Did anybody watch Guinness book of records last night? They showed the smallest dog and it was a yorkie and the 2nd smallest was his sister. Soooo cute! and tiny!:p

Seems like last year it was a tiny chihuahua and I didn't think any dog could be smaller than she was. I've seen hamsters bigger than she was.

I found this online, her name is Munchkin, weighs 1.13 oz
10" from nose to tail 5" ground to shoulders. Wow, that's tiny.

I can't find a link but the smallest dog ever was a yorkie, but it only lived 2 or 3 years. It was just under a pound I think.

It gets confusing when they have smallest for weight, height and length.

Natalie, a member here has a female who's 1 lb 5 oz (full grown) and there's the chihuahua Tia owned by another member here who full grown is 1 lb 3 oz so it would have to be smaller than both of those. There's a Munchkin at Swankpets but she weighs 1 1/2 pounds so, obviously not the smallest.

I know they don't just go by weight though. There's also this:

Sylvia, a matchbox-size Yorkshire Terrier owned by Arthur Marples of Blackburn, England, was the smallest dog in recorded history. The dog died in 1945 when she was almost two years old, at which point she stood 2.5 inches tall at the shoulder, measured 3.5 inches from nose tip to tail, and weighed 4 ounces
