Puppy Diet Hi everyone. My 13-week old puppy is doing well and she had been eating dry food (Nutro Puppy and later also Science Diet Puppy). Well she got finicky for a couple days, not eating enough so we cooked some plain chicken and rice and she loved it; no diarreah or any bad effects. Now I'm not sure what to feed her but she actually still eats both (seperately) during the day. Is it OK to only feed her chicken and rice? Is it nutricious enough compared to the dry food? Any thoughts from you Yorkie owners will be greatly appreciated. |
pesonally science diet is not the best dog food, by products and corn and all thos yuckies. I would find a good quality puppy food, solid gold puppy food is rated 5 star, dogfoodanalysis.com and also canidaie, innova, merrick and feed several times a day, yorkies can get hypoglycemic, especially if they are smaller. I do not think the chicken and rice would be good for a overall food not enough nutrients. It is good for something bland if they have been sick. |
Chicken and rice is not a balanced diet, so it should only be fed when they are sick. You could add supplements and veggies and that would be a good diet or just add a little bit to her food everyday. |
Thanks for the replies! I get that chicken and rice is not balanced but if she wont eat much dry I just want her to something. I probably will try one the highly rated foods but as you all know, sometimes they just decide they don't like it...no matter how high it's rated! |
