X Pens Well, I'm trying to get my furbaby used to his pen before tomorrow when he will be here all by himself, but I just hate when he whines and crys. I know I just need ignore him and say "no barking" but is there any other tips that have helped you babies adjust to being alone in the pen? |
Awww... kong with peanut butter bully stick puzzle toys with treats inside hide a squirrel radio playing (make sure the cord is out of reach) playmate? :p |
It takes time... how old is your baby? |
earplugs always help....just kidding. Not the suggustions above are great. Find a toy thats only for when he's in his pen. Take it away when he's out with you. That way is special. Kong or hide a squirrel type inter action toys are great! Good luck |
he's 3.5 months and just got hime yesterday |
is peanut butter ok for dogs? and what do you mean hide a squiral? |
here's a site that shows what they are talking about---hide a squirrel [url]http://thepuppyshop.com/tn111 Joanne :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :dog:: |

Just a little comment about the kong and peanut butter or squeeze cheese. My doggies go through the cheese/peanut butter too fast unless I freeze it. Helps it last longer. |

Where can I purchase an xpen? |
1 Attachment(s) Attachment 188404 I got mine on amazon.com with free shipping. I really like it, but I think it will be a matter of time before she can get out of it by herself. |
My baby started in his X-pen at three months and was in it all day while I was at work. The first several days, he howled like a baby coyote when I left home and was frantic to get to me when I came home. BUT -- after a while I noticed he was perfectly quiet when I was leaving and when I came home, he was pretty calm when I took him out. He's been a dream in his pen ever since (he's two now). It takes time. I also found that leaving him a Kong full of his favorite treats helped smooth the morning transition. Your baby will be fine, he's just got to get used to it. |
It really does just take some time. My Jamie whined the first couple of days when I left him alone in his playpen to go to work. I on the other hand flat out BAWLED everytime I left him for a solid week (so sue me I'm a cry baby!). So my best advice is Be Tough. It is harder on you than it is on him. I quickly realized that right after I left Jamie would curl up and go to sleep. It's like with skin babies. If you make a big deal about leaving then they will think its a big deal and react accordingly. Be calm and say "Bye bye buddy!" and get out quick before you cry! |

Wow I was curious to read about Bully sticks because I have heard so much about them...do you all know what they are??? Oh my..according to Bullysticks.com: "Bully Sticks are 100% Bull penises, Not a tendon, and not processed meat strips. Bully Sticks are dried, lightly smoked or natural flavor and delivered to your door. We never try to hide what they are by giving them little cute names." Yikes..I'm not sure I can give those to my baby!! |

You do need to watch them the first few times they have one though. Gizmo is not an intense chewer, but with some intense chewers, you might have to worry about choking if they can get it too small in one day. Some dogs have also had reactions to them. But I think that's pretty rare. But do NOT get the round ones. A YTer had a dog who got one stuck over her head and had to have it cut off by the vet. Scary. |
Yeah, they may be gross to think about.. but to the little ones, it's just like a yummy piece of beef jerky. I'm not too terribly grossed out by them unless Franklin actually eats them on top of me (which he actually does quite often). They really are an amazing product. They're digestible so we don't have to worry about them eating the pieces. Like Judy in Waco said, they can keep dogs entertained for hours. Franklin will chew on his all day long.. his only preference is that he is near me while doing so. And they're especially great for teething puppies.. I'd rather him chew on that instead of my furniture. ;) |
ok you've convinced me..I'll try them. But no way am I telling my husband what they are made from!!!!:::D |
