getting them to sleep in their own bed during the day i let my puppy play in a restricte area were i have her bed and toys, she wont sleep in her bed???? she pooped in it and she'll take the toys out of it but she will not sleep in it? anyone know why? how did you get your pup to sleep in their bed? |
The bed I got Coco is a zip up plush bed. So if she goes potty in there she's stuck with it because she can't get out. Trust me she whined all night for 3-4 weeks but stopped when she realized that is her bed. You should invest in a zip up or enclosed type of bed. |
Didn't you get the memo? YOUR bed IS their bed hehehehe Mine used to sleep in their own beds but now...they curl up with me. They dont even go near their old beds. |
My dogs never sleep in their beds anymore. They sleep in our bed at night and during the day my lap is Jewels usual bed. |

Sammi has 3 beds...Not including mine...She refuses to stay in any of her beds longer than 15 mins...My bed must be more appealing!! |
I know how you feel...our girls think that our bed is their bed!!! During the day, they will sleep on pillows and blankets in the living room, but at night, they want to be near us...Sailor is the worst about it, she wants to either be in your lap to sleep, like she is right now, or up agaisnt your back...anywhere she can snuggle... Sorry I am no help, we just gave up and let them sleep where they want to!!! |
Bed Time My Oscar is such a good boy when he gets in his doggy bed he goes to sleep really fast. He knows by 9 or 9:30 pm its time to rest. He usually makes a little noise but, I tell him quiet and not a peep. It takes time but you'll get it. My little girl is different she jumps in my bed and sleeps with me. Good Luck |

Try it - you might love it! :) |
Hey Vainchick, can you post a photo of the bed you got CoCo? |
I try to get Jeremiah in his own bed no effect though. Its like a fight to the death with him. The breeders should have warned us that yorkies sleeping in their own bed ain't gonna happen. ..LOL. |
I think the problem is we think they need fancier things than they want. I bought myself a giant chenille floor pillow at meijer's for $12. It's for me to sit on on the floor when I'm down playing with my boy. Well he thinks it's his and he'll about push me off of it when he's ready for bed. I'm also curious about this zip-up beds. Can anyone give me a website or picture of one of these beds. He might not sleep in his bed now that he pooped in it, since they don't like to sleep where they pooped. So i would suggest washing it & spraying it with odor remover then maybe put a t-shirt of yours or something in it so it spells like you. |
1 Attachment(s) Here's a picture of the bed I bought for Coco. It's the best. You can carry it around if you're traveling. You can fold it down. and the sides (if you look closely) have zippers too. So you can either enclose them all in, or leave some spaces unzipped when they learn to stay in their bed. It's really cute. There's plenty of breathing room. |
I have never had any problems with Gucci sleeping on her own bed. She lays on it all by herself. I always have a baby blanket on her bed and sometimes Gucci crawls under the blanket and falls asleep. Most of the time she sleeps with us in our bed but she has the choice. vainchick5, I will love to see a pic of Coco'c bed. |
Thanks for the Photo!! That bed is super cute.. so you sip it up at night? is it mesh? where did you get it from, its adorable! |
Yes I zip it up all the way at night. There's mesh so there's plenty of air (so don't worry they won't suffocate). It's nice and cozy in there. I wish it was big enough for me. They are sold on ebay, but the seller manufactures them, so there are tons. They come in yellow and pink. Just type, pink dog bed, in the ebay search engine and it will come up. Glad you all like it, it's great. Now Coco sleeps with me but has no problem switching back and forth between my bed and hers. She loves it in there. |
