Sebi Goes Under The Knife Tomorrow- Why Am I So Stressed? Tommorrow Sebi is getting neutered (he's 10 months) Why am I so stressed? The reason he is getting fixed is because ever since I had Sweet Pea he tinkles around the house. Also, since the first day i got him he is one horny lil' doggie. The blanket that he came to me with (thanks Rene ) he is constantly getting freaky with it. Its gotten so bad that I had company over less than 10 minutes this weekend, I left the room and I hear my company so NO, NO Sebi. I walk in and he is in his own lil' Sebi heaven. And EVERY night, he drags this blanket up the stairs, jumps on a stool, jumps into bed, gets his lil freak on, nibbles on the blanket oh so delicately than goes to bed. It is actually very funny, but that barely 5 lbs Yorkie has WAY to much testerone in his lil' body. But I am so stressed about getting him fixed. I just don't want to make a quick decision and regret it in the future. I am also afraid I won't catch Sweet Pea in heat in time and my lil Romeo (Sebi) will get to her before I do. I have a neighbor with an 8 year old female Yorkie and she says she has never once noticed her dog in heat...hmmm I don't want to breed him and Sweet Pea, it was stressful enough nursing her back to health I can't imagine having a few pups for 10 weeks. Any words of wisdom? Sebi is so cute and so charasmatic I don't want his personality altered. Everyone who meets him says "that lil' dog has alot of personality". The way he is so vocal, prounces around like he OWNS the world" handsome as can be, charming, lovable with a lil devil showing though. HELP!!! |
I think many of us go to the same stress when our babies were getting fixed. But if the vet is good he shouldn't have any problem. And most vet will let you take him home the same day(just remember to prepare a nice spot for him away from your other dog so he can sleep the effects off). Good luck and let us know how it went. p.s. Teddy acted as if nothing had happened after a couple of day. My hardest problem after I got Teddy neutered was to keep him from jumping on and off of furitures and tearing his stitches. |
I know exactly how you feel. Your little guy will be just fine. It was 2 weeks ago for Mac & Mellie. My son called Mac the Humping Horn Dog. He would hump anything 24/7 Poor Mellie. He spent more time humping her head than anything else. Now that it is all over both are doing just fine. And Mellie seems alot happier :D |
LOL, it sounds like Mac and Sebastian has a lot in common. :) I know I am probably being silly and overacting, I have had dogs fixed in the past. But, Sebastian is such a character I hope it doesn't break his spirit. |
LMFAO I remember when Angel went into heat. prince went INSANE! At first we kept in close din the bathroom (its a LARGE bathroom) at night, just to make sure he didnt get ahold of angel. That didn't work. He would cry and howl ALL DARN NIGHT! They ended up having pups because of an accident conception, but most of the time he was humping her head when he had the chance. He's hump toys, blankets, the couch, ANYTHING he could get his paws on. He stopped doing that for a while but once the pups were born he start trying to hump angel again. She hasnt been in heat since (but will be in september). So, I know the feeling. They are typical males lol Dont human males do the same thing? LOL |
I am sure Sebi will do fine and you will be glad to have it over and done with. I have a male and a female also and my male will be neutered this month. |
Sebi will be fine. It may take a little while for him to figure out that he is humping for no reason. Once he does, he will settle down and become one calm young man. Maggie is turning 5 months at the end of the month. I am playing with Mother Nature, trying to outguess when she will be coming into her cycles. I want to have her spayed, without experiencing any heat cycles. I am trying to wait until she is at least 6 to 7 months old. Hopefully, I will be able to pull this one off. |
Tucker just got neutered a few weeks ago and I posted the same type thread that I was very stressed. Everyone was so nice and assured me it would be OK. Well, it was. I picked him back up at 11am that morning and he slept alot that day, but the next day he was up and moving. Just give him lots of love and time to heal and he will be over it in no time. I'm so glad it is over, and I don't regret having it done at all. He is still the man of the house, attitude and all. But, no more of the undesirable stuff. |
Max was neuterd last month at 10months old too and I had all the same concerns you have. I was sooo worried and also sad to put him through the sugery. The sugery was a success of course, he was up and running that same night. He never slowed down, he was same ol Max.. Except, the Good news is!!! No more marking in the house, and he is such a good boy now. He was a good boy before, but a little crazy, now he is just a sweet baby. I am so glad I did it, and so glad its over with. You are making the right desicion for Sebi, be strong we are all here for you ;) Dont worry, he will be just fine. He will be up and running the next day and you will be amazed at how fast be bounces back ;) |
I am sending prayers....you are just being a good mommy...I don't even have a neutering date yet and I am already paranoid, but everyone keeps insistng it is very routine and everything will come out great!!! |
Good luck to little Sebi and hang and there mom - talk to the yorkietalk people while he's there and help pass the time :) It IS stressful - you can get lots of support here. |
