New Puppy Info: I am getting a new Yorkie puppy in a month & I was wondering about the Hypoglycemia in them, any adivice? I would really appreciate any help that you can give me!! Thanks again!! |
None of my yorkies ever had hypoglycemia, and my oldest one I bought right before she was 7 weeks..Just make sure you have karo syrup on hand(I think the nutrical is too expensive, and karo works just as well)..Not all puppies get hypoglycemia..just make sure he/she is eating, drinking, and don't play for too long at a time while they're still young..If they get lethargic, not eating, etc. then just a little bit on your finger.. |

Your breeder that you are getting your puppy from should touch on the subject when you get your puppy. You could ask her about it too. Mine had a care pack that had written information on Hypoglycemia and how to treat it if needed. She went over each page of information with me before we left with Jeter. Also if you know the vet you will be taking the puppy to before you get him/her then you could ask your vet your questions on your puppy's health concerns. I was so nerves while waiting for Jeter to get to come home and reading all the things that could go wrong with a toy breed, finding YT sure helped me learn a lot before he got home! |
Needs Vary As you can see from the posts, your furbaby may or may not have hypoglycemic episodes and it's good to have some nutrical or karo on hand but there's no substitute for good food. Be sure to have your furbaby on a good diet. :aimeeyork |
