Emotional me Lana went in for her spay yesterday and we did the blood work and I told them to pull any extra teeth. They pulled 13 extra teeth!!!!!! I knew she had 6 teeth but not that many. She came home and acts fine but she has obviously been through alot. She smells bad now and looks like she hasnt had a bath in a month! Her incession is 2 inches long and she a 2lber! I feel soooo guilty for putting her thruogh something so bad! But Ive used these vets for 2 years and had my other 2 babies done there and had only good experiences. Never dreamed it would be like this. My husband think Im over reacting a bit since shes my baby still but I still feel bad. AND my vet. had never heard of Natures Variety medallions and wanted me to stop and put her on kibble! Said raw was not nurtiounially(sp) correct! Ill, give her some room to wiggle since shes the new young vet in the clinic but really, shes sooo wrong. The head vet, an older man, was all for NV and even joked about a dog building a fire to eat dinner. Makes me worry she did the neuter as well as shes doing in her dog nutriton. Thanks for listenig guys I always know you guys wont tell me it no big deal, we all agree anything having to do with our babies is a big deal. |
A two inch incesion seems a bit much. But I am not a vet. I would be upset too. When dogs live in the wild they do not have kibble, so what is wrong w/Raw? Dogs by nature are meat eaters so I would not really take her opinion to heart. If you are happy w/raw then keep on doing it. Hope your baby heals up nicely. Autumn had to have 10 teeth pulled and she too came home and was totally fine. Ate hard kibble the next day like she was licking Ice Cream!  |
Aaaahhhhhh hugs to you. Little Lana did go through a lot -- spaying is a major surgery, not to mention pulling 13 teeth! BUT it is over with now and she is home safe and sound and will be a much healther dog for it. I wouldn't worry too much that your vet had not heard of the food you are feeding. Most vets are NOT canine nutritionists - which is evident by the way they push the Science Diet, Eukanaba, and Iams foods. My vet had never heard of Canidae - I am educating her on GOOD dog food. :D Sending hugs to everyone :ghug: |
Kacee had internal stitches that dissolve. Her incision was an inch or less, I forget. |
