GRRR, If She Chews One More
 

I'm tellin ya, if Miss Maggy May chews one more terd I'm gonna rip my hair out, lol! She's doing really well not pottying in her crate, I keep a puppy pad in there just in case and I haven't seen anything there when I wake up in the AM to get her out for breakfast and playtime. First thing she does is go over and pee on her puppy pad and then goes for a lil romp and then I feed her. After that she goes poop and I immediately clean it up. After this, I let her play for about 15-20 minutes and then make her lay down for a lil time out so she doesn't run herself ragged, lol, she's a lil wild one, lol, plus I don't want her over doing it and her sugar going low. In her second lil romp after eating, she takes another poop and sometimes I don't always see cause I'm busy making my bed. All of the sudden, I go :eek: She's WAYYY to quite!! I go and look over in her play area and sure enough, she's got a terd hangin out of her mouth! She gets plenty of food and she's on a a good food, why in the world she's eating her terds is beyond me, lol! Unless she's a neat freak like me and can't stand messes so she's decided to help me clean, LOLOL!! I know she doesn't like stuff on the floor, whatever she finds there she picks up and I'm forever retrieving fuzz and lil tid bits out of her mouth she finds on the floor. Even when I was feeding her out of my hand, if I couldn't get her to eat much, I'd put a piece of the food on the floor and she'd pounce on it and then eat it. Our boxer boy Elijah used to do this as a baby to, drove me up the wall and he eventually grew out of it. I try and watch her all the time when she's in her play area but if I turn my back to grab the phone, make my bed or get dressed, I turn around and she'd dinning on terds! GRRR!!!

Mine did it too when they were young. I just did my best to keep it picked up and by 4 months they werent doing it anymore. I have heard it can mean something is missing in their diet but I dont know

this is very normal, if you just have the one dog in the house peeing and pooping on the pad, put some forbid or deter in her food, this may help..My son has taken hot sauce and put it on his dogs poop before and left it sit on the pee pad long enough for him to go over and try eating it..that really works..:) Anyway, most of the time it's something they outgrow...ginger is almost 6 mos. and she used to do that all the time, now, it's just occasionally..

Well I sure hope she stops soon, lol. I know when we got her she was only 6 weeks old, she came from a really bad situation, the lady didn't even know the litter was born till she moved her couch out and found the pups. She had 28 dogs in the house and 25 outside so I'm guessing this may have been something Maggy was used to eating before she came here to live with us. She's on Wellness Just For Puppies, it's a good quality food. When I catch her doing that, I say, Oh Maggy, why are you eating terds girl, you have good food, you don't have to eat that, lol. When I was researching it when Eljiah was a baby to try and figure out why he was doing it, I had read that it may be something lacking in their diets as well, but I don't know what it could be either, she's on a good food. Hmmm... Maybe she's just a neat freak and wants to help clean up the messes, LOL! I couldn't help but laugh the other day. She was in her play are and she's got a lil pink couch. She had tuckered out and fell alseep on it so I just let her sleep there for a few. I got on here and was working on my website and when I turned around to check on her, there she was with a terd hangin out of her mouth and just looked at me like, oh cool, I just found me a slim jim, ROFL!!! Nothing like having to go in and retrieve a terd, lol!

I could have sworn there was something you could sprinkle on their food that would make their poo smell horrid (like it doesn't already, lol) and they wouldn't eat it, but for the life of me, I can't remember what it is or if I'd even wanna use it, I'm very picky about what goes into my furbabies tummy. I'd never use hot sauce, I did that to a cat of mine when I was 13 years old cause it wouldn't stay out of the trash. My Dad was always yelling at me and told me one day to put hot sauce on the bag and that's teach her. So, I did it. Next thing I know, my Dad's screaming at me, "Tracy, what did you do?!" I go running and he's holding my cat who was foaming at the mouth! I FREAKED!!! He'd gotten her out of the trash and yep, she had gotten the hot sauce. I was scared to death seeing her foaming like that, I thought for sure she was gonna die. I learned a big lesson then, Dad's don't always know best, lol. I could never do that to an animal again, as bad as it sounds, I'd rather her eat a terd than hot sauce, lol. Her poor lil tummy would be a mess and she's fought so hard to get healthy, no way would I do that to her.

i see martini sniff it once and i picked it up as soon as i see it i pick it up right away and show her that she cant eat it i tell her no if i see her do it

My pup seems like has has stopped eating it or at least slowed down. LOL! Changing him to natural balance helped alot. I would wait until he pooped and I would actually let him try to take a bite and I would say no and clap my hands before he could chomp down. That seemed to help. Also, my aunt has a dog that ate his poop. She sprayed bitter apple on his poo and she says he hasn't done it since. Also, my pup pooped in his crate last night, which happens about once a week, I guess because he's still a pup. Anyway, he didn't eat it and he will be 5 months on the 31st. Good luck! I know it can be a gross habit, but I've heard it's pretty normal. Hopefully she will stop soon.

Ohh, now there's an idea, BITTER APPLE!! I think I'm gonna try that! It's god to know that my cutie isn't the only one that likes to eat her terds, lol. I almost didn't post about it cause I was so embarrassed, lol.
