Cooper Visits Kindergarten!!!
 
I am having my sister bring my puppy, Cooper, to school today. I teach kindergarten and the kids have been BEGGING to meet him. I waited a few weeks for him to get adjusted and get all his shots.

He will be here for a few minutes this afternoon and I am sure the kids will get a huge kick out of him. I have already gone over the rules 1)whisper voices 2)one-finger petting 3)stay seated on your bottom.

When my nieces got a hamster, the littlest one would get too excited and SQUEEZE the poor little guy. So my sister and I instituted the one-finger petting rule. I thought it would work well for this occasion! ;)

Well, as you might have guessed...Cooper was a HUGE hit at school. I haven't really brought him into public yet, so I was surprised how many people stopped me to coo at him . The kids were SO great with him and he was completely at ease after a few minutes. They wanted to know if Cooper could come EVERY Friday.:D

Fridays - hence known as TGICF (thank God it's Cooper friday!):)

I didn't let him down long enough to take a picture. Next time I bring him, he will be bigger. I'll take pics then!

Very cute! Last year, I taught Kindergarten and I brought Tucker in to see the class for just a few minutes. This year, though, I teach first grade and I brought Tucker in for the whole afternoon right before Christmas break. We were having a Polar Express Pajama Party so I made sure Tucker and I were even wearing matching snowflake pajamas. Both the kids and Tucker did wonderfully! They are almost as obsessed with him as I am! :)

I know what you mean! I posted pics of Cooper in the classroom and the kids all stop by (at least once a day) and ooh and aah over him. Today they nearly LOST their minds!!!

I remember show and tell days in school, and pets were all ways the biggest hit. It's great that you are teaching the kids to be gentle to animals early on, it's a lesson that they can carry on throughout their lives.

Dogs and kids are such a great combination! I took my therapy Bichon, Cosmo, to visit a 2nd grade class last year. It was Reading Day and all the kids wore their pajamas and sat on blankets/quilts on the floor. There were four or five kids in each group. We visited each group and one child in each group got to read Cosmo a book. They drew names to see who got to read to Cosmo. The kids loved it and so did Cosmo, of course. One of the kids from that class came up to me and Cosmo at the library a couple of weeks ago and said he remembered Cosmo and wished he could come to the school again. We're making some great memories.
