Male Vs Female What are the pros and cons of having a female vs a male yorkie. I've heard that males like female humans better and vice versa what has some of your experiances been? |
My female is more the cuddler with me. My male is more obedient and better trained. My female still has potty accidents. I love them both and dont have a preference for males or females. As far as shopping for them there are way more cute girls clothes than there are boys |
I can't really tell the difference with mine. They all love to be cuddled and loved on by everyone in the family. |
I dont think its really true. Some people say its the opposite females are closer to women and male to men. In my opinion it doesnt matter male or female dog because if you are the leader they will adore and listen and be close to you. Also yorkie are very affectionate creatures and if you show them your love they will show the same love back. I use to think the same thing as you before I got Maxi he is a boy. He loves me to death and attached to me. He is not attached to me because he is a boy he is attached to me because I am his leader. My friend's dog she is a girl was very attached to me. I was babysitting her for a week and when the owner came back to pick her up she told me later that her dog was depressed because she missed me a lot. They would say my name and she would run around looking for me with the toy in her mouth and crying( the toy I gave her). So in my opinion it doesnt matter on the sex of the dog. Be a leader and they will be yours truly. I have a boy and I cant wait to get a girl now :) |
I think when looking for a new furbaby it is best to go in with an open mind.. not "I want a ______. (male/female)" I have heard a lot about male v. female, but I have also heard an exception to every "rule" so, I think it depends on the individual dog.. they all have such different personalities. If you just go into it with an open mind.. I think you will have a better chance of bonding with the right dog for you.. instead of liking one then finding out it's not the sex you wanted. Don't know if this will help at all, just my :twocents: |
Yorkies are like children.....they all have different personalities. My males are very loving, they are wonderful lap babies. Some females are moody and more independent and some are not. Some Yorkies are timid and standoffish, some are very friendly and outgoing. A lot of Yorkie personality comes from how it is raised and socialized. An unneutered pet can create all kinds of problems that you would not have to deal with in a neutered pet. A lot of personality traits are inherited. Ask about the personality of the parents. I have one male that is very quiet and laid back, his puppies usually have this personality. I have one female that is a busy body....just like both of her parents. Some people think males are harder to house train but I talk to a lot people that easily trained their males and I talked to some that say that females are more difficult. I just love them all! |
I say you go and talk to breeders and meet their puppies. Once you meet them, you will know that you like the puppy for its personality, whether it be a boy or a girl. Good luck! |

The only thing with males is the marking  I keep a belly band on my male 99% of the time because of this - but other than that, there really isn't any difference IMO. And not ALL males will mark, so don't let that totally scare you off either ;) I do have to say though, the females are alot of fun because of being able to dress them up in all the girly clothes/dresses :p And the bows too - which you CAN put in the males hair however my male in particular will NOT tolerate anything at all in his hair :p I say just go with whichever baby steals your heart, regardless of it's gender :) |

I agree though, as long as it's a YORKIE - who cares what the sex is! :D |

In my opinion, I don't think it matters. I have 2 girls and one boy and I've come to the conclusion that it really depends on the individual Yorkie. Each one has their own personality that has nothing to do with whether it a girl or a boy. Each is cuddly and loving when they want to be, always on their terms!!! |
I have 2 girls and 3 boys:) Imo I dont see any difference excpet for they all have there own unique personality, I set out to get a girl with my first one and came home with a boy, It was instant bonding for me:D good luck to you |
