I agree with everyone else. Have some family members register some in their name and then say you watch them during the day for free. If you're not running a business (charging a fee) you should'nt need any kind of license. After all if I watch my niece or nephew as a favor I don't need a license. The darn government needs to stay out of our business:mad: |

First of all, they shouldn't be able to come into your home without a search warrant. Second, I think it's rediculous that a city can tell you how many pets you can own as long as they are being taken care of and in good condition. That's like putting a limit on how many children someone can have. Until they do that, they shouldn't be allowed to put a limit on pets either. Bryan/College Station has a 4 pet limit in city limits but it's not really enforced that I know of...maybe it is if there are some complaints. They are in the process of rewriting animal control laws right now though in our city |
Thanks guys for all the support:p You know I'm kind of upset at myself for loving this many furbabies. I shouldn't have kept all of them. But I fell in love with them. 2 of them belong to my 21 and 23 yr old daughters. We take very good care of them they are always indoors. Neighbors never complain, they don't bark at all unless someone is at the door. No one even knows we have this many. I am seriously thinking about asking friends or family to register them but I was wondering has anyone here done that before? My daughter asked a friend and he is willing to do it but his parents won't let him because their home insurance will go up - is this true? |
Is your daughters still living at home if not register them in their names, and say you babysit them during the day while they work or what ever they do during the day. |

I work part time as a counselor at a middle school so I'm home by 12:30. I'm also a real estate agent but I do that from home. So they aren't ever alone that long. I'm thinking I'll start putting them in crates and leave the radio on so if animal control comes around maybe they won't hear any barks. |
If you decide to have other people register some of your babies (such as a friend) just be sure it's someone you really trust. I'd sure hate to have someone decide that they're in love with one of the furbabies and want to take custody. If your baby is registered in their name you wouldn't really have any recoarse. I know it sounds a little cynical but you just never know, especially if say something happened between you and the friend and you weren't speaking to that person for some reason. I would just make sure it was a close friend, not a casual one. I'm sure you wouldn't have to worry about that if you use a family member. |

We also do not have a limit here and we live in the city limits. I dont know what I would do it I had someone telling me how many i could/could not have. I agree with whoever said the government needs to back off. They let homeless crack heads keep their children despite being badly abused and other horrible things but they limit people on fur babies who are spoiled rotten?? That just doesnt make any sense!!! |
i dont even know what to say i dont have to register dogs here in ny...at least not that i kno of there arent any rules here like that...do they check out the whole house if not hide them in a room or pretend ur not home and dont answer the door |
That is so stupid, people telling you how many dogs you can own in your home. It shouldn't matter as long as they are being taken care of and aren't hurting anyone. I am so glad I live in the country and don't have to worry about stupid crap like that. I'm sorry that you have to go through this, it makes me mad that they think they can just tell people what to do and how to do it. What happened to our freedom? |
We're going to register some with friends. Does anyone know if they come to your home when you register them? Like, say we register one with my daughters best friend will they go to her house and check that the dog is there? |

Sounds good in theory but doesn't work here. Ours (to my knowledge) does not do random door to door visits...someone reports you. You're allowed a maximum of 4 dogs and even if they are registered to someone else...it doesn't matter. When they make follow up visits...should that dog still be there...it's considered yours. I know this because a friend of mine...had 7 yorkies and had to get rid of 3. |
First of all if two of them are your daughters and they just moved back home I wouldn't worry about it, Just tell them the truth 3 of them are yours and 2 of them are your Daughters that JUST MOVED BACK HOME TEMPORAILLY and the dogs will be here until your daughters rehome, ask how long they can be their before you have to register them. It maybe a year? Then figure out what you are going to do if your daughters aren't going to take them when they move back out. I wouldn't put my dogs in anyone's name personally. JMO. |
As of last July our city passed an ordience requiring your vet to send in the dog's informination and yours when you get any rabies vaccination to the city. You have 90 days after that to register the dog, if you haven't already registered. They say it is to generate revenue from the sale of unlicensed pets...however it does prove how many animals are in the home. |

I told my friend that someone must have reported something that's why they were in her neighborhood. But she said no they come around door to door every so often. We live in california does anyone know what's the procedure out here. Once we register 3 will they come and visit my home? I can easily hide the other 2 but I don't want them coming around and checking if I really only have 3. |
