Sizeing - How Big?? Please, can someone tell me how you can predict how big a pup is going to be. I really could do with some help, as i keep getting asked how big will the pup grow. I usually go off the mum and dad, but recently saw a daughter of one of my bitiches who is so tiny and her mum was quite big and stocky, though her dad was finer bone frame and not so chunky, pls help??? |
They say triple the 8 week weight or double the 12 week weight. I say that's a bunch of HOOEY. You can't tell until the dog is about a year and half...then it's done growing. You can't tell by the parents, you can't tell from past puppies...you just don't know until it's done growing :) |
Actually tripling the weight at 8 weeks or doubling at 12 wks is pretty acurate. There is a weight chart on here...somewhere...one of our members posted it...it was pretty acurate as well. maybe off a 1 lb. |

that weight chart was dead on for chewy...he is right where the chart said he would be. He is 41/2 to 5 pounds and full grown now. :) |

Admin has a sticky: Growth Chart |
The charts were way off for us. My little Dylan was 1.2 pounds at 8 weeks and 1.8 lbs at 12 weeks old. He just turned two and he weighs 7 lbs and he is not fat at all. He's very lean and fit. |

I've never heard of one growing until they're 3 years old |
