Coat types... Do puppies in the same litter and/or from the same parents have the same coat type (cotton vs. silky)? |
Hmmm....that is actually a very good question Kyle :p I wouldn't think that they would all have to have the same coat type just because they came from the same litter - but then again I honestly have no idea what I'm talking about as I am not a breeder so LOL :p I'm sure someone will jump in and say just the opposite and then I'll feel like a big idiot for giving the wrong answer :D |
You can have different coat types. Say the mom has a cottony coat and the dad has a silky coat, you could get some of each. Even if both parents are silky , one of the grandparents might have had a cottony coat and some of the pups might take after the grandparents. In an ideal world we should all be breeding just silky coated Yorkie but unfortunately that is not the case. |
My sire has a very silky coat and my dam has a modified silky coat and you could tell there was a difference in all the puppies. |
Nope Bella and Diggy have the same parents....totally different coats and growth patterns. Diggys is the growns out and down type of silk...Bella is Very silk and has a more growing straight down pattern and her hair is much more flowing as Diggy's is really bouncy and full of body. |

Thanks for the replies, guys. I would assume that siblings could have different coat types but I wasn't sure... good to know. Thanks again! |
