Potential danger under your feet Months ago, I may have seen a similar warning; but it doesn't hurt to remind others that something so simple could have disastrous possibilities. Last night at bedtime we couldn't find Maxwell. After frantically hunting the house over, he was found trapped under the lazy boy loveseat recliner that had closed on him and MERCIFULLY did not hurt or kill him with the metal springs and bars under there!!! He was fine and didn't even bark, because he probably just decided this is a nice dark place to sleep. I shudder when I think that when my husband got up from watching the game, he could have unknowingly killed or maimed Maxwell! So warn all of your recliner users to take care when putting the foot rest down. Have you looked under there? Yikes! |
That is a very good reminder:thumbup: . I am glad your baby is o.k. |
Wow, that is scary! Thanks for the advice! |
They are very dangerous and I have heard of a yorkie being killed that way |
So glad that he is okay. We also have two lazyboy recliners and fortunately this has not happened. Thanks for the reminder will tell DH to keep checking... |
oh, I was thinking about the yorkie that was killed by the recliner just a couple weeks ago when I was at my parents & they have one. So glad Maxwell was ok!!!!!!!! thanks for posting for those who haven't heard of the danger before :animal-pa |
Very good reminder! Thanks. In our house, hubby never gets up without asking: "Where's Abbie?" Our former recliner had an open back, and I was so nervous I would ask my daughter's aids not to sit there when we were out. |
Im so glad Maxwell is ok, and thanks for the warning. |
  Good advice, we can NEVER be too careful!! |
Good reminder and I'm glad your baby is o.k. We have 3 recliners in our living room...I never open mine unless the boyz are on my lap and the girls are either on the couch with my husband or in their playpen. If my husband has his open he always asks where everyone is and I have to see them before he closes it. |
Thanks for the reminder...that is so terrible about the Yorkie being killed in the recliner. I didn't know that had happened.:( So glad Maxwell is okay...bless his little heart.:2hearts2: |
Oh wow! im glad Max is ok! These babies sure do find strange places to hang out and take a nap huh? At my moms house I was sitting on her canadian glider chair with the ottoman that glides also. I had Dex on my lap but couldn't see my fletcher. When I got up off the chair I found him sleep on the floor BETWEEN the chair and ottoman! I could have easily moved the ottoman and hurt him!! I got to remember to check under my feet now in case they are there :) Thanks for the reminder!! |
I'm so glad your baby is ok. We have recliners too but we never use them because of that reason. Our neigbor's cat was killed by their recliner. Thanks for the warning. |
I will not have a recliner for that reason. I had a cat hurt that way once. |

I would not have a recliner of any kind in my home. Friends of mine lost an 18-month-old grandson who got his head caught in the footrest of a recliner. He was only alone in the room for a minute or so, but it was long enough. |
