Our Yorkie Eddie Hi everyone....my wife and I are new to this site....Eddie our yorkie is 3yrs old and full of energy...he is a joy above expectations and keeps us hopping....in the last couple of days he seems to have lost his appetite...had Vet check him..all test are normal...seems healthy..and happy....any ideas?: |
welcome to YT :D I have no advice...but I'm sure someone will :D all I know is that our 11 year old min pin does that from time to time...but there is never anything wrong with him. good luck!!!! |
Welcome to YT. Hmmmm... what food are you feeding him? There is a chance his is bored with the food. I know that my Jamie likes variety. If he has to eat the same 'flavor' food for more than a week he acts like he doesn't want it anymore. I'm sure someone with more experience than me will post with suggestions soon. |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk. I would try adding chicken to his dry food. |
welcome to YT!! Glad to have you all here! Have you tried giving him something besides his regular food to get him to eat? A different kind of high quality dog food or some good homecooked food? Perhaps some chicken, cottage cheese, etc? |
Welcome to YT! You probably won't get it from me, but you will get excellent advice from others here. However, in an effort to help those others help you, I offer these questions; Exactly how long ago did you notice the change in appetite? Any change in activity level from normal? What is his normal diet and how much per day? Is he eating anything at all? How much? Are you able to feed him by hand? Is he drinking water? What is his frequency and quality of his bowel movements? What is your confidence level in your current veterinarian? Hope this helps. Best of luck to you and I hope Eddie gets to feeling better real soon. |

Ask your vet about giving him Pepcid every 12hours .Thats what I give mine when they have a upset tummy. |

BTW - our girls get upset on the weekends because we have to leave them for a few hours. They started throwing up small amounts of bile. We now feed them a small portion of breakfast. A little boiled chicken and they don't throw up anymore. Please keep us posted on his progress. |
Welcome to YorkieTalk! MrYorkieCrazy in post #If your little Eddie is healthy and the vet has thoroughly checked him out for underlying health issues then I wouldn't worry too much. My guys have hungry days and days when they don't seem too interested in food. Be sure that he is drinking and that he is NOT getting too many treats. I would recommend giving him a small amount of Nutri-Cal. Small amounts stimulate the appetite, large amounts decrease it. Good luck and keep us posted on Eddie! |
poor guy.. Layla is like that from time to time... she throws up bile and has a slow appetite for a few days.. you might want to try giving him a bit of yogurt that has pro biotics in it.. help get his tummy back to normal |
