Need All YT Participation Please!!(Saftey)
 

Ok YT Cindy and I thought it would be a great and bennificial idea to get a sticky in place for products that have caused potential dangers to our dogs lives of saftey, I think this would help a lot of people to not make the mistakes that have almost hurt our babies...

I want to get all members that have had any issues with products to post in here and if we get enough good reply's maybe admin can make a sticky out of it and save some lives..

EX.. I bought Peeka some round Bully sticks(complete circle) and i thought they were fine well they are not he actually got the bully wrapped around his head and i had to have the vet cut it off with bolt cutters:eek: This is a dangerous product to have for small dogs here is the link to the story...

Belle had a nylabone one of the rubbery ones adn she chewed it up and started braking pieces off of it... luckily she was ok, but she could have choked on the pieces or something like that

Seargents Flea/Tick Prevention. Causes damage to their nervous system. We spent 2 nights and $1500 after applying it to Xena.

I also want people to know that you have to use Dawn Dishsoap to get the stuff off your pet; soaps, and shampoos don't work. This I was told directly from the Manufacturer.

I second this. I know of someone whose dog had a reaction (restless and itching). The manufacturer said to use Dawn.


I would recommend staying away from the Lepto vaccine if at all possible. It is probably the vaccine that sent Ellie into shock and there are other Yorkies with similar stories. This vaccine has been known to kill them. Please weigh the pros and cons carefully before giving it.

Here are some of the rules that I think of when buying toys and treats:

1. Is this a choke hazard in anyway?
2. Can tiny pieces be broke off and swallowed?
3. Is this product made in China?
4. Is there harmful paint on this product?
5. Can they strangle themselves with this in any way?
6. Is this 100% digestible?

I am sure there are more, but I run these through my head before purchasing.

Also, please do not give pets - stuffed animals for children, as most of the time they have some sort of a button type eyes or nose, etc. And believe me, our little ones can easily get them off and swallow them :(

Chachi has chewed chunks off of a nylabone. I wouldnt use them. Also you have to be careful of step in harrnesses Jewels had on on before and got part of it in her mouth. It was real tight in her jaw.
She really could have choked. The only time I have them on is for walks

Being an aggressive chewer Buddy would chew a nylabone down in a couple of days. Of course I took the small pieces away and glady replaced it with a new one.
When he was 10mos old I woke up to gagging. When I turned on the light
there was diahrea (s) and vomit both with blood in it. I called the em vet,
2:00am. Took him right in. He was there for four days (2,200.00) and after
much testing, encluding x'rays, upper and lower GI series the best they
could tell was there was small fragments of something that cut into the
lining of his small intestine, causing the bleeding. Poor baby continued to vomit and have diahrea for three days. He was so sick. When I told them that
he chewed nylabones they could only assume that is what caused the
problem. My vet said never to give them to him again. He would never
give those or rawhide to his dogs. Both are very dangerous.
I learned after the fact, if you read on the back of the nylabone label
it tells you right there that "SMALL FRAGMENTS THE SIZE OF A GRAIN
OF RICE CAN COME OFF BUT THESE FRAGMENTS SHOULD PASS!
When they don't this is what happens. They don't tell you that!
Please don't use these chew bones. They are very dangerous.

I found out the hard way with Roxy. She began having dry flakey skin, then tremendous scratching all the time. I went through a few shampoos and settled on a Medicated Ones for skin issues. Well...totaly made her worse and she started to develop staph infections. This has been going on for almost 1 year. After doing some research, I do believe it is the following ingredient is the cause. Please check your labels, this stuff is in everything, if your baby has sensitive skin or skin issues, please research and find a product that is free of SLS:

Sodium Laureth Sulfate

Products containing these substances can affect those prone to eczema and other irritants. These substances provide a foaming quality to the product, allowing for better distribution of the product while washing hair or skin and while brushing teeth. When rinsed off, the product will have cleaned the area but will have taken moisture from the top layers of skin. In people with sensitive skin (prone to dermatitis, acne, eczema, psoriasis and chemical sensitivity), the drying property of these type of detergents can cause flare-ups of skin conditions or may worsen existing conditions.

Was this the rubber nylabone? Or the healthy edibles?

The one my Chachi had the problem with was the rubber. Ive never heard of anyone complaining about the edibles

Actually it was before the Heathly Edables came on the market.
It happened 3yrs ago.
I would never purchase anything with NYALBONE printed on the label.
It was the nylon ones. I don't trust this co.
Today, if it's not organic or natural I do not give it to my dog.
Please never believe the label. Most toys and chews on the market
are dangeous to the little ones.
The ropes for instance. They eat the string and it also gets wrapped
around the intestines and blocks it. They don't tell you that on the
label either. You really have to use you own common sence and think
the worst that can happen before buying these toys. If you think that
something can happen don't buy it. Better safe than sorry.

I agree this would be helpful for all of us on YT. There are somethings we never would think about but does happen. Good ideal.

we got chip a rope steering wheel with a fabric center that has a squeeker inside it was his favorite toy got it from "pets at home" think this store is uk only but the toy is very common any ways bcoz his mouth is very small he cant get the rope all in so used to chew the fabric the other day i noticed that he had biten right through the fabric to reveal the squeeker i had seen this just in time because the squeeker fell out as i went to take it from him the squeeker was oval and widest part being the size of a 2pence piece and he would have definatly chocked on this

Anything that looks like these chicken chip treats can get caught in the palate or the throat. Please break them in half or buy strip chicken instead:
