Ok, for those of you that homecook,I need recipes..
 
For my Gizmo.. I am leaning more towards homecooked meals but I need recipes...his BUN level was a bit high soo if you have some low protein recipes that would be great... anyhow just let me know.. thank you:)

yay for homecooking... you don't NEED receipes... al you have to do is pick a meat and a veggie and since he needs low protien you might want to include a starch.. you can bake fish.. or boil chicken or beef or lamb or veal or duck.... and you can put veggies.. always pair carrotts with another veggie.. in a food processor and chop it up.. then you can make whole wheat pasta or if you want to avoid wheat you can do brown rice.. sweet potatoes.. regular potatoes... and then again since you need low protien.... make most of his meal the veggies and starch and maybe just keep the protien at 20-30% of his meal. you need to suppliement as well.. you can buy them or make your own.. if you wantt he receipe for making your own just PM :) fruit and cottage cheese and yogurt make GREAT snacks

how do I know how much meat? I need to go buy a food scale too huh..lol

he is 4lbs 1 oz and is 2 yrs 6 months old in case it helps anyone..

By the way I am also looking for Canidae samples... anyone know where I can get them?

ok 4lbs... so i'd say give him 1/4 c of food in the am and 1/4 c food in the pm... and let's imagine that each feeding is out of 100 parts... make 30 parts the meat (do you KNOW how much protien he shoudl get a day?? i don't know much about low protien diets) 50 parts veggies 20 parts starch... and you dont' need a scale.. just go out and buy some meat :) see how long it lasts.. you can make it up and then freeze it :)

well tonight i tried it with carrots and chicken and he picked through the carrots and just ate the shredded chicken..lol... how can I avoid this?

Yes you need a food scale to make low protein diets (measuring cups MIGHT work). It is the only way to be accurate until you get used to the amounts. That is why the recipe I gave you in the other thread has ratios.:)

lol... you can't :p Layla does the SAME thing :P you need to put it in a food chopper and get it to like a pulp and then try your best to mix it with the chicken.. also i shred cheddar cheese on top of layla's food.. not sure why but she loves it... if you ever now or months from now need help... PLEASE pm me.. i'm more than happy to help you :) you are doing SUCH a great thing for your little guy and DON"T forget the suppliment :) once you have fed him on homecooking for about 6 months.. go to the vet and ask for a blood panal just to make sure all his nutrient levels are ok!

Thanks Crystal! i know NOTHING about low protien diets... thanks so much! i didn't mean to lead her the wrong way!

Probably the only reason I know is because I have to do it for Ellie.:)

haa... yes they are smart... well I bought the COOLEST Chopper thingy that changes out the blades now I have a use for it.. hubby thinks I'm nuts buying all those gadgets..lol.... And on topic , yes I am willing to go to the end of the world for this little guy he is my world....

OK so where do I get the supplement and what do i use?:confused:
