Ultrasound and T4 Thyroid Test Prices? Ellie is getting a T4 test done and I don't know how much it will be. Any idea? Maybe $30? Then she might get an abdominal u/s done. I was quoted $180. That sounds cheap. How much do you pay? |
I don't know what a T4 test is? But I would be interested in following your lead on that one ;) Roxy's u/s was $350 (plus all the blood work and other tests the total came to $700) ...so $180 is good :D |

This should explain it... This testing has nothing to do with Ellie's liver really. It is because of her urination problems (see Urinations Problems Update). Her symptoms match hyperthyroidism (excessive urination, skinny, hyper, nervous, BIG appetite...) but it is very rare in dogs. We just want to make sure. The ultrasound would be done if the thyroid and urine tests come back normal. The u/s is not for her liver (we would have to go to a specialist and pay lots of money for something that may or may not be accurate for detecting shunts...so we would do it at her regular vets...they can check for bladder problems there). I thought $180 sounded good.:) I wonder if they know they are undercharging.:p |
What's up with TJ and Roxy? Any rechecks, any more tests? |

And if they come back abnormal? Hopefully that won't be the case though. |

TJ - well I am not sure. His post # went from 43 to 21.5 - but his pre # went from 5 to 67  So I am really hoping this shot will have low pre and post. The Vet thinks maybe he had a spasm at that moment of the draw causing the pre # to be up  This is the 3rd test for of them and it will really guide me as to what to do next. I am hoping for the best :( |
Loki's T4 test was about $60 for the test + the blood draw & visit. Total it was like $150. His test was normal. |

Interesting...this will be Ellie's third bat also. If the numbers are still down we let it go. If they are back up she goes back on Denosyl. If they are really up then we go to a specialist. The biopsy showed no mvd and the numbers are too low for shunt, so hopefully she is fine. |
