I just wanted to say best of luck with your decision and welcome to YT! |
While I love yorkies - the long hair, health issues and potty issues (that I have read about on this website) seem to be time and money consuming - which might be especially difficult if your child reguires extra care. With that said, I think a dog would be great for your child. Maybe you could adopt a breed of dog that is easier to care for or an older dog that is already housebroken. You might even search for a service dog that is trained for special needs children. Take your time in your search - there's a special furbaby out there for you. :) |

You won't know unless you try, right? I have a male Yorkie who is extremely well trained, lovable and can hold it for more than 9hrs. He has never maked in my home or anyone's else's. Never used a pad or belly band. Crate training was successful for us after 5 wks. He's healthy, loveable and happy. Who could ask for anything else? So I did something right. I believe in my vet so his word to me is what I do. Everything he told me came true with great success. Of course I would never delibertely leave him for more that 9hrs but If I'm caught in traffic or want to sleep in Bud is just fine. If it's done right it will be successful. |
