My small yorkie does Hi everyone, just want to say that my small yorkie, gina, weighs 3lbs 4 oz..she is a bundle of energy when she's up and going. This morning she heard a thud on the wall from next door, and she started barking like crazy. Then I calmed her down. It's just that she sleeps a lot, unlike boobah who is wide awake and bushytailed at any hour. This yorkie came to me from a former neighbor. She moved to Florida and then into a assisted senior home. Gina at times seems to sleep a lot, that is what worries me. Yet the vet gave her a thorough going over. Checked her blood, (sent it out to a professional lab), all the tests came back negative. Oh, about a month ago she was treated for giardia and that eventually cleared up. Any comments about this situation out there? Thanks!:animal-paAlso, when I got her she was 2lbs 8 oz..just like having another baby here. |
I don't have any answers but thought I would bump this up for you. |
how old is Gina now? each yorkie is just different i guess. Mine sleeps alot too, unless i get her up to play. She's always ready to play or follow me around but if i'm laying on the couch she's right next to me sleeping. |

They are all different. Just like people. My other yorkie was up and going like crazy all day. Kacee sleeps a lot, but she's healthy as a horse. I wouldn't worry about it. |
Maybe this is the routine she was used to when she had the older owner. My friend doesn't wake up until aboout 2:00 in the evening, and his cockers stay in be accordingly and don't ask to be taken out or anything. They all just lay around sleeping. |

They are all different. Since she has been thoroughly checked out by your vet I would guess that sleeping a lot is normal for. If Gina is skinny you might work on getting to eat more. Maybe try to interest her in some fun interactive games. My 2 year odl 4 lb. 14 oz Kooper sleeps a lot. He is a very healthy chunky little boy! He just likes to snooze! |
