I have a little garbage hound! My little one likes to get into the garbage every chance she gets, how can I get her to stop, it's either the bathroom or the kitchen, if I happend to leave a bag out and forget she will get through her gate and tear it up. I have learned my lesson on forgetting (most of the time ha!) but she gets into the bathroom ones too. We close all the doors now. I am afraid that one day is will eat something that is going to make her really sick, she has been "not feeling well" before and I think that had something to do with it. |
I hope someone with some advice posts here. I am having the same problem with A.J. No matter what I've tried, he will not stay out of the trash! |
Same here i have 4 of them that get into i would love some advice |
How old and how receptive to training are they? I would maybe bring a small garbage can into a "training area" (living room or something) ... put it in front of them. Every time they go for it, firmly say "NO" and push them away if they don't get away themselves. Also, I know Mogli never liked hot sauce (tobasco, etc). If I just had it on my finger he'd make a face something awful. If your babies react to something non-harmful like this, you could put some on or near the garbage. I think there's commercial products like no-chew type stuff with a similar effect. They need a firm, completely deterring thing to be associated with the garbage so they can build that mental connection and live by it. |
