I joined a Facebook group for Yorkie owners, and... More than half of the discussions were "I need a male to breed to my female". The only information given was location, nothing at all about the health or sizes of the poor little babies or information about breeding experience from either party. It seems they just want to throw a male and female together and that's that. I hope their babies don't suffer for their lack of knowledge and research. :( |
I found the same thing when I was looking on Facebook so I created one of my own. It is Yorkies in Alberta and is just for fun. Another place to go and show off our babies:D |

AMEN! |
I honestly don't think that people know or understand the entire breeding thing!!!! It completely shocks me the comments that people make to me about Buddy. "Like are you going to breed him"? "Oh, he is so cute I would love to breed my dog with him"!!!! (like I would do that!!!!) It shocks me!!!! I was talking to a friend the other day who I consider to be a bright intelligent person and just out of the blue she said, "my friend came over yesterday with her dog and we decided to breed our dogs"!!!!!   Neither one of them have any idea what they are doing!!!! I do not understand why people take breeding dogs so lightly!!!! I say, leave it to the professional!!!! |
4 Attachment(s) I certainly have nothing against "ethical breeders"... I've raised my share of little ones over the years (not Yorkies) - but some of these people and their mindless comments just makes me ill....... I don't know if we'll EVER get to the point where people realize that it takes MUCH MORE than just their WANT to breed and the fact that "nature makes it easy" to just put two dogs together and make babies to "make a buck"!! I admit, I visit puppyfind.com and different web sites quite often.... I'm intrigued by all the different pups and adult Yorkies out there .... but just one visit to a site like that and you can see the range of quality, or lack of, in the available animals. Some of those "yorkies" don't even CLOSELY resemble the breed!! (a couple of examples below.... ) One is supposed to be a Biewer... the second looks like it has the ears of a Pug.... the third looks more like a Cairn Terrier... and I don't even know what the last resembles.... |
