Yorkie Hair I have a 4 month old yorkie and her hair is not getting long. It is still short and close to her body just like it was when she was born. When will it get longer. Why would she have such short hair she has sister that has long hair all over like that normal yorkie pics. |
First, let me welcome you to YT!! This is a great sight full of knowledgeable, fun people who love yorkies Hair growth does vary. I wonder what you are feeding her? A good food, along with the type of brush & when you are brushing her make a difference, along with shampoo & conditioner can make a difference. Can you supply a few more details for me? |
Thanks I feed her Yorkie puppy food. As far as brushing goes her hair is so short it lays flat on her body like my Rottweiler's hair so I haven't been brushing her. What kind of brush should I use and how offten? |
does it feel silky like satin also?? If it does then don't worry, my cousin has a yorkie with short hair to the body and he didn't have long hair until about 8-9mths but when it grew it caught up quickly with my yorkie's hair length.THE key here is the texture if it is silky then you are fine but if not maybe you should post pics could be a redleg or some other thing going on. |
I use a pin brush, and you should always dampen the hair first, or so they say.. |
Ya her hair is very soft and shiny. |
if it is silky and very shiny then I would say you have a silk coat and boy when it does grow she will be a show stopper.PLEASE post pics :D |
I keep reading about redlegs, what are they is it a genetic disorder? |
no not a disorder.from what I've read a throw back from past generations.very beautiful but the hair on the legs and face won't grow long |
I brush mine with a spray bottle with water /conditioner lightly. |
you naughty girl!! like the website. Oh and I forget my manners WELCOME TO YT !!!! |
