tea cup yorkie!? some friends of mine gave me my bauer and they told me that he MIGHT be a tea cup yorkie, but they were not sure. the breeders wouldnt know because we live in china and they probably dont know the difference. he is not extremly TINY but he IS tiny how do i know if he is a tea cup yorkie for sure?? what is the age that they stop growing?? is it a possibility that he is a runt?? |
Technically, there is no such thing as a 'teacup' Yorkie...so my answer would be "NO" :p He is a cutie though.:) |
tea cup yorkie is a made up word to sell to people small yorkies that are bred that way and tend to come with medical problems. That is NOT to say that Bauer has problems, but just know that there are no such things as teacup yorkies. :) |
There is no such thing as a teacup yorkie or a teacup anything for that matter. A yorkie is a yorkie (a toy breed) regardless of the size it is. The standard calls for a yorkie to be 7lbs and under. Most breeders prefer to breed dogs that fall between 4 and 7lbs, although sometimes smaller ones and larger ones will turn up in a litter. Avoid any breeder that uses the word "teacup" to describe their dogs. |

to the poster , Even tho we know a teacup is a dish piece we also know that a lot of people use this term for a very small/tiny yorkie and I know it , and most of the members here also know it , but there is so much controversy with this word just do a search here, that's why you are getting the "there is no such thing" anyways I just want it to point to this , I didn't know if you were getting confused here , perhaps you are new to all the teacup dilema ......I know at one point I was. I know you mention the yorkie was given to you so I don't think there was a $$ involved when they said "teacup" . :) |

Copper's measurements haven't changed all that much, but he weighed about 2.3 lbs at 5 months and at 7months he weighed about 4.3 lbs he gained 2 lbs on the vet scale in 2 months, after that spurt he hasn't really gained, I was so happy to have him get heavier he is alot more athletic now. They all grow at their own rate. The good news is your puppy is a yorkie and no type of beverage dish, enjoy him!!! |
