Weeks vs months.. Can someone tell me why we count our dogs age by weeks instead of months for the first year? My baby is 39 weeks, but on the 5th will be 9 months. How many weeks does my 2.8 pound baby stop growing? Thanks for any advise... |
I've never really heard anyone refer to weeks past about 16....after that I always hear months. My guess would be that when theyre so young...knowing the exact age something is happening may be important. For example teething is normal at a certain age, after that point the teeth should be pulled. As far as growing. Mine stopped at about 14 months. But ive heard everything from 10 months to a year and a half. Hope that helps |
I can't keep up with weeks anymore, and now say mine is 5 mos. A very reputable breeder I know that bred yorkies for years, and now is breeding biewers just answered that question for me the other day..she said the same thing my vet said..around 6 mos. they slow down on their growing..may gain another pound before they are completely mature though.. |

The vet said most of the time, they quit growing around 6 mos...my little guy I got at 5 1/2 mos. he weighed 4 1/2 lbs. he's full grown now and stays around 6 lbs. My one yorkie never quit growing until much later, at 1 year she was 7 lbs, at almost 5 years she's 14 lbs.. |

Reece is 18 months old and has put on about a pound since he was 6 months old..I would say he has been this weight since he was about 1 year..give or take a few ounces and the time of year too...its winter now..less exercise so hes a tad heavier than he was in the summer...Soleil is 8 months old and has been 4 pounds since about 5 months old and hasnt grown at all since then..
