Heat wave Yeah the climate is changing - we have a heat wave in Denmark while the have storms and rain in the south. And how do you handle heat with your yorkies? I give them water all the time and mix it with a little milk, they love that so I know they will drink extra - but is there anything else I can do? They are both cut short haired and we have provided shade for them in the outdoors. Any advice is welcome :) |
Sydney loves to chew on ice cubes...so anytime she is panting I give her one. It usually cools her down fast. Also if I put 4 or 5 ice cubes in her water bowl she will paw at them trying to get them out and in the process gets herself soaked with ice-cold water. This also cools her down. Good luck and stay cool! |
It's been really hot here too. I noticed that Gus was just laying around and not wanting to play. First I put a little sugar in his water then I give him pleanty of nutrical then I put him in the kitchen sink and dip his lower back and bottom in luke warm water. I did this the other day and he snaped right out of it and was running and playing in to time. |

Thank you so much - the ice cube thing is a great idea and I will try it first thing tomorrow! :) |
It's very hot here in Florida as well. I have never seen my two literally do a u-turn when it was time to go outside, they usually play a bit. I also use ice, I put it in their water, on the tile and let them just play with it. Lately, it's been air condition time. |
