it works for the USA too.............on your tag it will say USA
if you read it says for canada and usa

It is valid in the U.S. and Canada and what they do is send you dog tags with your dogs name and info and on the other side a seriel #...if your dog gets lost anyone can call the 1800 # and give the seriel number and the humane society can reach you to give your dog back

ok .. i got a situation here hope u guys can helpme out ... this is all gonna sound very fishy and i dont know to do...
the place i got Chicle from never told me that he was microchipped, and me being a novice at the whole doggie thing im mean from a-z i failed to ask many questions. but as soon as i got him i was just feeling around through out his body and i came across a tiny lil thing on the back of his neck and i got a lil worried .. when i went to the vet 3 days after i got him i informed the vet about the lil thing on his neck and she was like well that sure feels like a microchip and she whips out her scanner and it didnt read. i went back the next day b/c she said to come back b/c she said her machine wasnt working well that day so i did and still unreadable.
at this point i decided to contact the guy i got Chicle from and left him a vmail wanting to know if Chicle was microchipped and if so i would like the # to it.
he returned my call the next day and told me yes, he microchips all his dogs. HE NEVER MENTIONED THIS TO ME UPON PURCHASE and ITS NO WHERE WRITTEN ON HIS REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE of his micro chip # NOTHING NADA. so i ask him to give me the # and he tells me that i will have to call him back when the girl (thats what he said) is in. so i call the next day he tells me the same shpeel. i call the following day and he finally gets the girl ont he other line and gives me the #. but didnt give me the place/ company of the microchip..
I've been to 6 other vets in the course of 1 month with chicle b/c the first month he was getting sick alot. and none could read the chip.
ive tried calling the A*hole back to inform him of this and to get the name of the company of the chip. B/c the last vet i went to said that i dont really need the # i need the company name of the chip,t hat way i can get more info. he doesnt return my calls ...
so i blocked my # and called him posing as a potential buyer and asked what kinda dogs he has available, and if they come mircochipped and he tells me this .. NO WE DO NOT MICROCHIP OUR DOGS, IT CAN CAUSE INFECTION...

NOW imlike WTF, so i hang up...
i dunno what to do guys... i dont regret having Chicle i just regret the place i went to get him....
what other steps should i take??

I would write an email as a potential buyer and send it to him asking about his dogs and whether he microchips etc... I will even send an email if you would like..just pm me the info, once you get the response I would write him a letter stating that you have been to 6 diff. vets who are unable to read the microchip....you were also told that HE DOESN'T microchip his dogs because of risk of infection...TELL him that if you don't get the name of the company and the phone # of the microchip people you will have no choice but to have the microchip removed (to see what it actually is) as well as take him to court for the vet fees to process this...ALSO..who is this "breeder" so that no one else gets conned??
Keep a copy of the letter and certify mail it!!

Why have a micro chip if the vets cant read it......are you sure thats what it is?? I'd be doing some checking.

And you know it doesn't make any sense. Why would he not tell you he microchipped them if he did. I mean it wouldn't determine whether I got a pup or not but if it was microchipped it would be a definate plus. I would think that it would help him sell them, if for no other reason than making him look good for taking the time to microchip. Maybe they tried doing them themselves or something and it didn't turn out right.

this guy is in Bklyn last stop of the D or B train ... then u have to drive out to the place... he didnt have an email i found him thru a website, i will have to find the site at home and it had a contact # soi called it .. i still have his # its his cell...
I havent registered him b/c of lack of this info...
and the registration form is ACA ..
im iffy on anything he gave me i know a lot of ppl here use AKC or something like that... is there a difference?

i dont know guys i seriously dont knwo ....hes a very shady guy and a total wise guy .. hindsight is 2020 .. and it sucks b/c i have such drama to go thru.

Did you see the parents and what not when you were there?..Did he give you an immunization record for the baby with the shots given...this should have the vets name on it call and inquire???...That is definitely what I would do ..what kind of guarantee does he offer and how much did you pay for chicle...I will go down there with you if you want to see what the hell is going on??

no, i didnt see the parents but i did ask him about his parents and he said oh ya i know who they are but didnt tell me where they were...
i have a 5 year guarantee, he did come with an immunization record but no vet info.. just a slip i have it all at home what he gave me .. i paid $1,200.00
