collar or harness? I got a harness for Guinness. I guess it's okay but what is preferred? I'm just curious :) |
Harness is perfect!!! Yorkies can tend to want to pull and collar can do damage to their Tracheas. So the harness is better because it fits under their legs staying away from their throat area! hope this helps!!! im sure some of the more expertised people can help you further! |
Only a harness for when you are walking them. |
I use a harness and find it much nicer to use than the leash on the collar. It's easier to clip the leash onto when you're putting them back on after some ball play too because their body doesn't move about as much as their head and neck. |
harness for walking, collar for identification 1 Attachment(s) [quote=Amy81;1644498]Harness is perfect!!! Yorkies can tend to want to pull and collar can do damage to their Tracheas. quote] I garee with this, however, Both my babies wear small personalized collars in the house always. We use a harness when we go out, but they are microchipped and collared "just in case" search eBay community for angiesembroidery and/or http://cgi.ebay.com/PERSONALIZED-EMBROIDERED-DOG-CAT-COLLAR-4-SIZES-DOG_W0QQitemZ250202226288QQihZ015QQcategoryZ52355Q QssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem these are nice products and definitely important. These are NOT big and heavy. Get the 3/8" size. If you worry about them getting caught on something, then order the "breakway" collars they make for cats. And the color choices are pretty. Hope this helps you somewhat! Good Luck! |
Yes, harness for walking. But you can use a breakaway collar like Monday said. :) |
Harness, and a lot of girls on here made homemade ones that are all cute and stylish if you want to have fun with them!! |
the harness we have has the clips on it like shown above, are those break away??? |
hello, my yorkie hates a harness-she literally refuses to walk! So I find a collar much better. Harness are a great idea in general, they stop pulling on the lead and also mean that you can pick your pup up quickly if needed. It just depends on the individual yorkie. If you start them straight away with a harness it should be fine. |
How do you stop the hair getting all tangled up under the harness? They always cause knots on mine |
Hi there :) I use a harness on Meka when taking her on walks... I do however, use collars; but only on occassion and its used as an accessory to match her outfit or what not :p |
This is why I don't use a collar: http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body..._collapse.html You can add using collars to the list of possibilities that start bringing out symptoms. Some say it does and some say it doesn't. It isn't worth the risk to me. Ellie used to wear a collar before I knew about this and I regret it now because I could have seriously injured her throat.:( Collars around the house are fine but I prefer never to attach a leash to them. All collars and harnesses come off of Ellie when I go away. |
I use harness for walking... But like the last person said I like for him to wear a collar just in the house as an accessory to match his outfits. its a blue one with his name in diamonds. |
Harness here all the way:thumbup: There are alot of yt ers that make the cutestes ones;) |
hmmm I didn't know about this TRACHEAL COLLAPSE and would have appreciated if my breeder would have told me up front!! I think if I were to breed I would have a list printed out on what and what not to do. and give a copy to ever one who buys from me...but I don't plan on breeding...LOL! |
