Ahhh dogs got a hold of chocolate!!! SO, i came home from work and sat down.. as i'm sitting there i see Max chewing on something. What do I find? a piece of foil wrapper from a holiday chocolate sucker. I don't eat chocolate, so I totally forgot it was in one of the bags my dance students got me. I'm sure him and Maggie split it, as it is NO WHERE to be found. After reading a few posts on here I was ready to take them to the vet or give them peroxide. They're acting completely normal (let's hope it stays that way) so I called the ER vet clinic. The lady that answered said as long as it was milk chocolate i had nothing to worry about.. they may have a little GI irritation, but nothing drastic. She said to worry if it was dark, but if not.. it's fine. Hopefully this is the case. It was definitely milk chocolate so I'm praying they're ok. :( |
Milk chocolate(although isn't as dangerous as dark chocloate), is still very dangerous..My sister-in-laws shih a poo is about 12 pounds, and ate about 5 pieces of milk choclate once(got in to the box of chocolates), and she almost lost him..he started having diarrhea and throwing up later on, and ended up spending the night at the vets office..so, I don't think I agree with what the vet told you, as I've seen first hand otherwise |
Be sure to keep on eye on your baby. You don't want to take any chances. |
I'm watching them closely regardless.. but it's been at least an hour since they've eaten it.. probably more since it was while I was at work. I'm praying everything will be ok. It was pretty small AND they most likely split it. |
i hope they dont get sick! maybe it was too small and they will be ok. Sorry this happened to you, best wishes |
A.J got ahold of some chocolate when he was younger and now he's addicted to the smell of it! He can sniff out the tiniest piece of chocolate from a mile away! Keep a close eye on your babies and hopefully they'll be okay. |
Thanks for being worried with me :) They're both completely fine and didn't ever seem phased by it. Hopefully that will never happen again! |
