It is twice the expense as far as vet, shots, groomer etc., but as long as thats not a problem, I think its wonderful! I was so scared to get two, but I absolutely cannot imagine not having them both! They are such wonderful little buddies! They run around and wrestle and play one minutes and then are cuddled together napping the next. Its totally worth the extra work!

i just adopted two (one boy and one girl) and i could not imagine having just one of them....yes, it is double the cost, potty training, "work," etc but they play with each other and snuggle and lick one another, it is totally worth it...i think they like having a playmate and companion! it is actually a little easier on me and my fiancé since they spend so much time with one another playing, they barely need us unless they want to be fed LOL ... kidding, of course

they cannot bear to be away from each other...if one is in another part of the house, the other will look for them and wimper until they can be together...they are soooo sweet!

i say two are double the love and fun! :thumbup:

i never really ask. i just hint for a while that i really want one and he usually says you better not but he doesnt mean it, and falls in love as soon as i bring another one home hehe. you have to look at the cost along with the joy :)

The picture is just TOO cute!!

I tried my "weapons" last night, giving him all the ammos why we should get another furbaby. He's still a bit skeptical, worried having another will change Aggie's personality.

THEN, I went into the nursery section and showed him some baby pictures. He actually turned his head and said, "You're using their cuteness! Not fair!"

Haha...:D That's right, we YTers post the CUTEST pictures of our babies!

We were trying to figure out how much Aggie costs us per year:

Food: $30 appx (large bag of Natural Balance will last almost a year)

Don't forget to think long term when considering adding another dog. As they age, they get more expensive. Dentals run several hundred dollars and some Yorkies need them yearly. Yearly bloodwork is important and it's recommended that you do it twice a year after age six. Lady just had $350 worth of bloodwork done. She's twelve.

Ask yourself if you could afford unexpected expenses for two, like surgery for luxating patellas ($2,000+), hospitalization for pancreatitis ($1,000), etc. Also remember that as they age, most purebred dogs develop conditions that require medication and routine vet visits, especially if your dog came from a breeder who didn't do genetic or health screening. My Lady is poorly bred ( a rescue) and at age 12 her medications are several hundred dollars a month.

definitely a girl . . . :thumbup: I think they are more trainable (well that's from my experience with my babies:p ) . . . I think getting 2 is wonderful not only for you but for your little boy as well. Hope it happens soon :)

Very very true... Our family friend spent $6,000 removing a tumor on their Beagle's foot. Definitely have to put finance into consideration. :thumbup:

and your boyfriend still is not sure about it I would wait until everyone is in agreement before getting another furbaby.

I know how you feel. I think one would feel less guilty if you get two at the same time. I would eventually like to get a second one as well but I love Jambo so much and not sure I want to him have to share.

As for asking about getting another dog....I must say everyone is mucho considerate. I told my bf I will do it if I feel like it end of story. He foolishly tried to tell me that I should only have one. I told him if that were ever the case, I will rack up thousands of dog sitting bills because I don't want my baby to be lonely ever. He then said he could see the point of two. I told him I may get three or four or however many I feel like so he better be ready to pick up their poop and do the dirty work...PERIOD. My dog is not the only brat in the house! (can't say bitch b/c he is a boy)

After I told him my reasons, he had the audacity to imply that I wasn't serious about wanting a second furbaby by telling me that soon or later, I'll forget it.

I was FURIOUS and I let him know it!

We decided to take baby-step program by having play-dates first so Aggie can adjust having a buddy around. Yay! :) I guess I've won the battle so far...haha
