Thanks for all your warm thoughts and prayers. I haven't heard back from him tonight but I probably won't until tomorrow. I guess I'm not really expecting to see her come running down my driveway to greet me again. It made me mad each time cause she had no business being out but I must admit that I will miss her greeting me. She was attacked last week by the same dog while out walking on the leash. Now I'm afraid to walk my babies, even to practise lead training. Animal control won't do anything because he didn't witness today's attack first hand. What's to stop this dog from attacking a small child? |
That poor baby! I feel so sorry for her. |
Oh I am so sorry! I am praying for a miracle and that she will be okay. |
Oh man...that's horrible!!!! Please keep us update on how she is doing. :( |
Hearing stories like this is so upsetting I know you must be very worried. I hope all turns out well.....she is in our prayers. Keep us posted please. Tina |
Oh Tami, how awful for you to witness poor Zoe in that condition.:( Do you all know who the Akita belongs to? Have they been contacted? We definitely need to keep a guard on our babies but someone needs to get that Akita owner in check also!! So sad that our babies almost always are the underdogs because of their petite, little bodies!!! Praying for a safe recovery for Zoe! |

One of my coworkers has a Westie and a greyhound from a rescue. He was walking with his 2 dogs to his parents home across the street from his house. He said he almost got to the end of his driveway when his neighbors dog ran up and attacked his greyhound. This dog clamped down on her neck and wouldn't let go. Anyway, it took 2 people to beat this dog off. His greyhound is okay now. He said animal control didn't do anything until this same dog later killed someone's chihuahua. The dog eventually had to be put down. So everyone be very careful when taking your babies outside. You never know what could happen right in your own yard! |
That is so incredibly sad...I'm so sorry... |
Oh, that is so sad:cry8: I often see people with their dogs in their open yards with them and have always thought it would be nice to have a dog that was trained to stay in the yard with me without a leash. But I don't think I could EVER do that with a Yorkie or other small dog, because as you've witnessed today, you just never know what might happen....in an instant. I am so sorry this happened to one of your babies and will say a prayer for her and for you tonight. |

Oh Tami, What a senseless tragedy. You know, this is exactly why I resist the temptation to let Abigail run free - ever. I feel guilty because she's in the house most of the time, except for when I walk her. Today, dh and I took her with us on our walk, and he said "you should never take her alone, because if another dog attacks her, you'll get hurt". To this, I replied: "But, I get so tired of being afraid". And, I am. Just down the road, lives a Pitbull. And, he never barks. I don't know if he's debarked, or if he's that well-trained; but, it's kind of eerie. One would never know he was there, until he was upon you. |
I'm so sorry for that baby:cry: This is one reason that we put up a fence, and sadly my babies don't get to go for walks around our neighborhood:( I take them to a park sometimes, but it's not an off-leash one. We don't have one, and I'd be too afraid to let them off the leashes. That Akita and it's owner need to be held accountable. Isn't there one neighbor who could come forward and say they witnessed the attack? When my Starr was attacked by the pitbull two doors down, they took my word for it. Of course the owner was right there, but it was off leash and just came charging out of its yard to the street. My poor daughter and her best friend were traumatized and poor Starr had to get all sewn up from that attack. We were lucky that it wasn't more serious. Please keep us updated on this poor darling. |
I live in an area with eagles, hawks and owls. Signs are frequently posted for lost pets, all small ones. In my heart, I know where they went ... If your neighbor decides to keep Zoe, to help her through the remainder of her life, perhaps something like this would be helpful? http://cgi.ebay.com/DOG-WHEELCHAIR-D...QQcmdZViewItem It's not even that expensive. She could still run and play. And of course, give plenty of love. I hope he considers it. |
What a terrible thing to happen. I will say a prayer for little Zoe. Here in S.A. we all have fenced properties, but we very seldom take our two for walks as sometimes large dogs get out and I'm just too scared of what they can do. Sheilagh |
That is so horrible, poor little girl,my heart goes out to her ! And shame on the owners for letting a little one run like this of leash...i very often feel bad for having them allways on leash, it would be soo much fun seeing them run free, but dont even feel safe with them being on leash and allways on the lookout for the unknown ! Please keep us posted |
