Dog friendly beaches in NJ? Tucker goes down the shore with us every summer, and he LOVES it. Our beach isn't dog friendly, but he's a service dog so he can come on. We just can't let him run around and have a good time. I know that in some places, there are special parts of the beach that are for dogs. Does anyone know of any dog friendly beaches in NJ? :) |
I believe all Jersey beaches are off limits to dogs from Memorial to Labor Day. There are a couple of dog friendly beaches in Delaware which is close by. Good luck, and post if you find anything. |
Which part of the Jersey Shore are you talking about? I live in Egg Harbor Twonship and work in Margate. I hear there is a dog beach in Ocean City. My friend took his dog there. I'll ask him exactly where it is and if it is open to dogs all year, then I will repost the answer. |
I couldn't find the beach in Ocean City but I did find a dog friendly beach in Cape May Higbee Beach Wildlife Management Area - dogs on a leash are allowed on the beach throughout the year. Hope this helps! |
^Cool thanks! We go to the Ocean Beach area. :) But it'd be nice to see some other areas too! |
My neighbor goes to beach down near Delaware, but its only open to dogs starting in October. Some folks were talking about a beach/park down by the shore but you had to pay $25 to use it. |
^ugh. $25? Thats a bit pricey lol. I hate that you have to pay to use the beaches here. grr. So my friend told me that Seven Presidents beach/state "park" allows dogs on after October. Can anyone confirm that? |
I have a house in Wildwood Crest. You can take the dogs down really early or later at night when the lifeguards have gone home...also prior to Memorial and after Labor Day.. I always have and have never had a problem.. too hot to take them down there in mid summer anyway. |
most beaches in the winter allow dogs because no one uses it & when summer comes they clean it |

We have a house in Lavalette and we take the girls on the beach in the off season and really early in the morning during the summer. No one should give you a really big problem as long as you clean up your mess :) |

I live about 10 minutes from 7 Presidents Park (moved here late last Summer). Last weekend when it was so warm & nice out, we took our Yorkie, Amelia, out to the park thinking we could walk her on the beach with us. Unfortunately, when we got there, there were signs at every entry way that say "No domestic animals." However, after stopping & speaking with a local, I think that it's not that they're ALLOWED off season, so much as it's not as rigorously patrolled, so people do it anyway. Does that make sense? I ended up walking Amelia in the grassy parking area (away from the beach), then taking her home b/c I didn't want to risk it. I heard from our pool guy last summer that there ARE beaches somewhere here in Monmouth County that allow dogs on leashes. I'm just not sure where. |
Ok, I finally remembered to ask my neighbor which beach it was. Springlake beach allows dogs from October to (I guess) Memorial day. He said when he went on a nice weekend, there were lots of dog there, but pretty much all big ones. |
