Yorkie leg problems
 
My 4 year old has been hobbling along every so often lately. She will drag her back left leg or hobble on it. Does anyone know what the cause could be?? It seems to especially bother her at night........ Some days she will run up and down the stairs and other days she waits for me to carry her up....... Strange~~~

My little guy is 7 months and got diagnosed with phase 1 luxating patellas and when he jumps on and off things he sometimes crys and lifts his leg or just lifts his leg and hobbles around. Have you had her checked for that?

No I haven't but I know someone with a Maltese who had the surgery for that and ended up not being able to walk at all.. That scares me ~~
Is your pup on medication or are they talking about the surgery ??

A friend of mine told me about a pill I can give him that will keep his bones strong. The doctor says they won't have to do surgery until it is in the last stage, IF it progresses that far...they think that he should be fine tho. Do a search on here for Luxating Patella or luxating patellar, that's where i found the names of the medicines. they are OTC.

Linus has LP too, and his isn't that bad. My vet said that he may have to have surgery later (his isn't serious), but that everything would be fine after the surgery, but that he may have a little arthritis. That's what it sounds like to me, but I'm not a doctor... :)

Yeah, I would have it checked out. It could just be arthritis. But since it is such a big deal (if they have to have surgery) I would want to know asap, i'm glad i found out bux had it early so i can start him on preventative meds

Thanks ~~ I will check into the OTC medicine. I have to bring her to the vet too i suppose ~~

Gioia have a phase 1 and the vet told me if she don't show sign of discomfort , there is no need for a surgery .
