AKC for Cooper? If I don't plan on breeding or showing Cooper, is it worth my time to register him with AKC? It doesn't matter to me either way, but is there a benefit to registering that I may not know about? Thanks! |
I registered Piper, but that was only because I was interested in seeing her pedigree. I was curious to see what she will look like when she gets older. I looked at the show pictures of her family online..it was pretty fun and it turns out she looks more like her grandfather than either parent. Beyond that, I don't see any benefit. |
I like to have the registration papers just to have them. It's proof of ownership...I've heard of registration papers helping in dog custody issues before. Lacy's not registered with a good registry...but my cats are CFA (equivalent of AKC in the cat world). I like having a copy of my cat's pedigrees just to be able to see their lineage. I guess I just think it's a neat thing to have. It's not necessary to register them though if you don't want to show or breed. Just depends on if you want that piece of paper or not really. |
Yes, I would register just to have proof as the legal owner but I wouldn't care to buy the pedigree at all. |
I have only sent for one reg out of all 5 of mine, the rest are with there vet records and tags, I thought you had to reg when i got my first babie, otherwise I wouldnt of did his either:) that was before i knew of yt;) |
It really doesnt matter, but if you ever decide to do obedience or agility, you can enter him in AKC events if he is registered. |
I've never registererd any of mine, as I don't show and I don't breed..I only registered one dog in my life, and she wasn't even a purebred dog, which the akc papers said she was...I feel myself, it's an unecessary $25 or whatever it costs now |
