Harley's eventful Christmas Eve Harley was under foot as we were trying to get everything together for our Christmas Eve meal. We noticed he was hopping a little so I picked him up. He little leg was bleeding - his dew claw had been pulled out!!! He was such a little trooper. He cried when we put him to bed so I put him in bed with me for the night. He calmed down quite a bit. I took him to our vet on Wednesday morning and they removed it. He only had the one dew claw. My vet thinks that 1. it grew back 2. it hadn't grown out when the other one was removed or 3. he only had one dew claw. Do most breeders remove the dew claws when the tails are docked? By the way, my Harley was soooo brave. He didn't cry or whimper. |
Poor baby, that would have hurt. And he was so brave. Give him a kiss from me. |
Aww that had to be painful, so glad he is on the mend:) those little claws can get hooked on anything so easy, never heard of them growing back, have to keep an eye out for that. give him hugs:) |
ouch! Yes, most breeders have the dewclaws removed when the tails are docked. If all of the tissue wasn't properly removed, a dewclaw can grow back. |
Poor baby. Glad it turned out okay!!! |
I thought dew claws were removed when their tails were docked. I'm glad Harley is all better now. :) |
Same here, thought dew claws and tails were done at the same time. So glad everything turned out okay for Harley. |
Poor Harley. I am glad he is better now. |
