yorkie Tails  how long should they be docked as babys? i thought i had read somewhere where the brown and black meet underneath the tail? any help appreciated |
The way my breeder explained it to me is the tail should be docked so that at full grown size it is as long as a womans pinkie. Of course I think that is hard to tell when they are newborn, but you want to be sure NOT to let the vet cut it too short. Also you might ask this question in the breeder's section. They are the real experts. |
I do mine 1/4 inch out (some people prefer 1/8) past where the color meets under the tail. |
Dock 1/4 inch past the tan into the black. |
i dock 1/8 or 1/4. I tried one fourth this time and sad, to say, I must not have had my glasses on that day becausse my tails are too long and when you add an inch or so hair growinmg over the end, they look really, really long. Almost like full tails. I am so upset at myself. |
thank you all |
I look to dock 1/4 (not an exact measurement) inch past the tan where it goes into the black. You have to look at the tail and see where it starts to narrow as all tails are slightly different. Right where it starts to narrow is where I dock, sometimes its 1/4 and sometimes its more closer to 1/8th. |
