How bad is cheese... I came into the living room this evening and found one of my sons sharing his snack of cheese cubes with my 5 month old puppy. My 4 year old has never had cheese but she has gotten into the cats milk bowl & was ok but this little one hasn't had dairy before is there any particular symptoms I should be looking for incase he is lactose intolerant? |
Watch for constipation - cheese can cause some problems - hope he didn't eat too much !! |
I had the exact same problem last week, my son shared some cheese with Gizzie, she got very constipated to where she was just trying to go but just couldnt do anything and she was whining, if this happens put your baby in the tub and run warm water over his/her butt and it should come out... |
Thank You:) |
My dogs have snacks of cheese all the time and have always been fine...even my tiny 2.9 pound Lola. In fact, I add cottage cheese to their meals all the time..and sometimes yogurt. It is good for their digestive systems :) |
I give Lacy cheese occasionally. In small amounts it should be fine. Just FYI - cats are lactose intolerant too and shouldn't get milk...they do make lactose-free milk for cats though if you want to treat your cat. |
If I took all cheese away from Sawyer, He would run away from home. I only give him small amounts, and have never had a problem; but, he seriously loves cheese with all of his 4 1/2 pounds. It is his favorite treat, and the only people food he will beg for knowing he will be in trouble for begging. I think he has a cheese monkey on his back.;) |
Gracie dearly loves cheese. I give it to her in very small amounts. She tolerates it just fine. |
My two loove cheese, they would have it every day , if i'd let them  |
Milo loves cheese, and I think he gets it everyday, becuase my father also loves cheese and he can't resist his "please-give-me-a-bit-I'm-starving" face... |
They recommended giving string cheese in my training class. So, I hope it's okay to give as a treat. I usually give 1/5 of a string cheese to Chloe per training session. It's the only human food she gets. |
Tucker gets small pieces of American Cheese almost everyday. He loves it, and we've never had a problem. :) |
Thanks, sorry I was in "spring cleaning" mode this weekend & never even sat down at my computer. I watched him like a hawk for 24-36 hours and zero problems. My son had gotten a cheese tray out and I am not sure which flavors he had or how many but they both were enjoying themselves quite a bit when I saw them. I never realized that cats were lactose intolerant as well. Mine never get people food of any sort but all my 4 year old female & probably my 9 month old female have both gotten into the milk that my mom puts out for her cats. Babsy & Gizmo go to Grandma's to visit with me but Fiona & my mom's cat Max have a weekly play date (strange but true) so I'm sure Fiona has helped herself to the milk I just haven't seen it. I am glad to know that in small amounts they are ok. This weekend I found out that Gizmo likes to lick the milk mustaches off my boys faces as well lol:) |
Too much cheese (block/chunk) may possibly cause a blockage in the GI, if its not chewed or broken down enough. Otherwise a little bit is ok, all the pets I've had LOVE cheese! |
Both of mine LOVE cheese, you can't even say the word around here, we have to spell it:laugh: They get a tiny bit now and then (lie a 1/4 of a slice each, given in tiny bits) and they go APE:p No poopie problems here:laugh: |
