New with a question! Hello, I am new here and I have found a 5yo female yorkie that I am thinking of purchasing. I would like to breed her sometime, should I be looking for a younger dog. I am only going to be doing this a as hobby. Thanks for any info. |
In my opinion you should NOT breed a 5 year old girl. That's when I retire mine. |
Georgia is a 5 year old retired breeder....We just adopted her.....Most reputale breeders retire them at the age of 5 .......I would look for something younger..... Joyce |

Thanks for the info. This lady has a 2yo male and a female 5yo. She is having to sale due a divorce and wants them to go as as pair. I just dont think I am ready for two. I was really only interested in the female. I am not really in any big hurry to get a female. so I guess I should pass this by.:( |

Hello!! Welcome to YT! |
Welcome to YT!:welcome4: I agree at 5 years old she should be retired. Thank you for asking such an important question. |
5 yrs old is around the time most breeders start to retire their females. I'm sure she would make a wonderful pet though. :) If you have your heart set on breeding, I would suggest studying up and finding a experienced, respected breeder that can mentor you. There is LOTS to learn BEFORE breeding and even getting your breeding stock. |
