Vitamins for small dog I would like to give my little puppy mill Chihuahua vitamins. I'm sure she has not had proper nutrition during the first nine months of her life. Her legs don't seem to have good muscle tone. What vitamins would you recommend for a little four-pound dog? Thanks. |
I would get some Nutri-cal, I work at a Vet hospital--so we would also send home liquid vitamins(not sure if you can buy something like that at petsmart). Good luck with your furbaby!!! |
I'd definitely give her Missing Link Plus, my girls have had that since I got them and it really improved their coats and general health. Be careful of giving any multivitamins without talking to the vet about it. Her food should have the proper balance of nutrients, and too much of a good thing can sometimes be bad:( Moderate exercise should give her good muscle tone, but it'll take some time. Good luck with this baby girl, she's so lucky you found her! |
I feed my Bichons Wysong Synorgon kibble and have been giving the Chi, Kozanna, the same food. At 9 months, maybe I should be giving her puppy food. I am just getting around to thinking about her nutrition with all the Christmas rush. I've had her a week today. Wysong Synorgon has 24% crude protein, 12% crude fat, 4.5% crude fiber and 12% moisture. It's main ingredients are chicken, chicken giblets, ground brown rice, ground flax seeds, poultry fat, eggs, plums, dried wheat grass powder, and a long list of other good stuff. It is a highly recommended, top-of-the-line food and my Bichons do great on it. I think it will be OK for the Chihuahua, but maybe she needs something different for the next few months and some vitamins. She is getting exercise now and seems surprised that she can run. She is allowed loose most of the time. I think she will be fine with good nutrition and maybe some vitamins to give her a boost. |
