Welcome to YT! Glad to have you here. Would love to see pix of your yorkies. Use the search option here or go to the breeders section to find answers. I'm also sure there are plenty of breeders that will give you assistance

Welcome! The breeders here give great advice, so you might try posting a thread there, especially if you have any specific questions.

I would definitely talk to some of the experienced breeders on here. I know one said in another thread that a female should be bred for the first time between 18 months and before 3 years of age as their pelvis hardens by three years. I believe it was Mardelin that said this. Apparently it can be harder for a female to whelp the first time if she's bred after three years of age.

Apparently this is your first litter, was it planned? You really should have studied up before breeding. :( I truly hope all goes well for you and your girl.

I had read something about this also. I would have had no idea before I found YorkieTalk either.

How much does she weigh?
How much does the male weigh?
Are the male and females line clear of liver shunt, luxating patella...?
Did you have the male and female tested for liver shunt, luxating patella, ear and eye problems, STDs,...?
Did the female come from a line of free whelpers?

I know it's a lot to think about. Breeding is a huge responsibility.

I did have her checked for luxating patellas and since she's never been bred before I didn't think about STDs. I know now I should have done a lot more checking about so many things. Now, my main concern is to safely deliver these babies already on the way. Any help there would be greatly appreciated.:love wings

She weighed 4.5 lbs prepregnancy. The male is 3.3 lbs. Porsche's breeder said that her mother has free whelped several litters with no problems.

I already answered in your thread in the breeder section, but just wanted to add: Seems like you've kept good contact w/ Porsche's breeder--ask if he/she will assist you with the whelp and preparation. Being experienced and knowledgeable regarding your dog's line, the breeder could offer loads more advice than anyone here could.

I'm sorry I can't help with the having babies. But I did want to tell Welcome to YT. Glad that you found us. I'm sure that if you go under Breeders there might be info there to help you. Good luck.

I think I answered this somewhere else too. But, I would get her x-rayed 5 days before delivery date to see how many and if she can pass the puppies.
