He will continue to need surgery...
I'm glad Mickey had the surgery to remove those nasty little stones, but I really wish there was something more that could be done. I know there is!!! I thought there was no hope for Miko because he had this happen to him so many times and it wasn't going away, but a few changes and no more stones!! :)
YorkieShadow, is there any way that you can ask your vet to check his pH? If not, can you check it at home with some pH strips that you can buy at the drug store or even online at www.solidgoldhealth.com. This will give us a little more insight into his problems....Typically calcium oxalate stones form in acidic urine, so they need alkalizing foods that are also LOW oxalate. If this is the case for Mickey, then maybe you can add treats that are alkalizing foods and low oxalate like apple(no skin or seeds). I have other suggestions, but I would like to know his pH first. The apple would also be good because of the moisture content. |
