Bloody Urine?? I just noticed Willie just urinated on my linoleum and it was bloody!!! I got so scared I called and talked to the emergency vet. She said it may just be a urinary infection. He seems fine, has been playing all day, eating and drinking fine. Is this normal for a urinary infection to cause blood in the urine?? She said I could wait til Monday for him to be seen if seems seems well. I don't know what to do... |
does he pee often and in large amounts? does he drink a lot of water? how old is he?? |
He does seem to urinate pretty often, but seems like a normal amount. He doesn't drink a lot of water, not an excessive amount. He is just over 1 yr. old Dec. 1st. ~Melody |
Melody is he neutered or has he been used as a stud? |
Is there alot of blood? Does it look dark red, brownish, or bright red? It is probably an infection. I would check his temp also if there is a fever it probably is infection.. I really hope he is okay... |
No he is not neutered, and I don't think he was used as a stud. The breeder didn't keep him because he was not the body type that she is breeding for. That's why I got him as a pet only. |

Not sure about dogs, but my Cat had that and it was a simple UTI (urinary tract infection), perhaps the vet will just prescribe some antibiotic pills and all will be well! Maybe that is all it is. ;) |
I am hoping that is all the is to it, but of course I am worried it is something else. |

If it were my dog, I wouldn't make him wait until Monday, any more than I'd make myself wait or one of my kids. I'd take him to the emergency vet asap. |
Urinating bright red blood is more serious than blood tinged urine. I bet he has a urinary tract infection, but I'd also worry about stones or crystals. If it were me I'd probably take him tomorrow, especially with the holiday coming up. A lot of vets will be closing early on Monday. |
I would be concerned with bladder stones as well |
I'd take him to the emergency vet. A lot of vets will be closed, because of the holidays. |
