My boys getting neutured today, eye question, new to site I am nervous for my 2 little babies who are getting neutered today. I am new to the site and have read some postings of others who have gotten their babies neutered. Frankie is 4 and Oliver will be 2 in April, so I am scared that they will be in pain from waiting so long to get them neutered. We were unsure if we were going to breed them, but finally decided we would not do so. I read many health benefits, but am nervous for them being put under. They have never been put under for anything. Oliver is a very nervous/scared puppy, but such a little lover to me and my husband. Frankie is a lover to everyone and has a problem with not producing tears in his right eye. Has anyone else run into any problems with getting a nervous yorkie who is afraid of pretty much anyone and everything? Also, does anyone have a yorkie that does not produce tears in their eyes? If so, what have you done? Thanks for any input!!! Brandy:aimeeyork |
They will do fine..I got my biewer on a Sunday(he was 5 1/2 mos) and he was neutered the next day..he was 4 1/2 lbs at the time...It's a very easy surgery compared to the spaying.. Where in Illiois are you? we're headed that way tonight(14 hour drive)...supposed to have bad weather hitting tomorrow night there, so going to get going around midnight tonight.. |
Welcome to YorkieTalk.:) I have no answers for you except they shouldn't be in too much more pain being neutered now then if they had it done when they were younger. My Yorkie was just spayed about two months ago at six-years-old. |
I live about an hour south of Chicago if there is no traffic, or 25 minutes south of Joliet if you ever heard of it. Thanks for the encouraging words. Have a safe drive! |
Yeah, I know where Chicago and Joliet are..I grew up in Princeton(right off interstate 80, exit 56), and that's where we're headed too..we live in SC now, so, I'm dreading the trip, even more so with 4 dogs(2 of them don't travel well), so, might need to take a lot of advil with me, and something to keep me awake..:( |
Your boys will be fine. Remember to get a e-collar for both of them .Talk to your vet about drops for the eye. For the next few days maybe chicken and rice. Mine had diarrhea because of the meds.Get well wishes to Frankie and Oliver-:getwellso :getwellso -Love their names- |
I asked the vet about the e-collar, but they said they only give those out if they are licking the incision a lot. So I guess I would have to go back in order to get one. I wonder if I should just buy one when I pick them up, to have just in case I need it. |
Ohh poor thing, losing his jingle bells right at christmas. |
The e-collar should be included in the price of surgery.Call and ask. You can get them at petsmart for about 10.00.They may not lick until after you get them home. |
