Shampoo, does it matter? Does it matter what type of shampoo I use on Lilly? I don't guess it really does considering I've seen several people on here that use Pantene on their babies. I was just wondering though because I procrastinate and didn't realize it was this close to Christmas so I can't really make an appointment at the groomer as I'm sure their booked up... but I want her to be FRESH for visits with the family on Tuesday. Last time I bathed her I used Johnson's baby shampoo because I thought it'd be the most gentle but she completely FLIPPED out on her legs and started biting them as soon as we put the shampoo on. So, I'm thinking about using my Matrix Biolage shampoo on her. Does anyone know if this would hurt or what? I also have some old Dove and Loreal Vive. Thanks guys! |
I only use shampoo and conditioner meant for pets. There are lots to choose from depending how much you want to spend and the look you want to achieve. |
Hi, everything I've read and have been told is to use only shampoo made for dogs. People shampoo has a different PH balance, so can be irritating to the dogs skin. :) |
We love Buddy Wash. It's safe and gentle in case it gets in their eyes. It's totally natural and it smells awesome, I've even used it myself! It loosens eye crusties and gets rid of doggy odor. My groomer even switched after I brought her some! Loki just gets shampoo. Sammy gets conditioner and some of my smoothing cream to help it not stick straight up (She has a wavy cotton coat). LINK |

We use MinkSheen in between grooming visits!! You can go to their site and ask for a free sample to try it out!!:D |
I just recently bought some Buddy Wash too and I love it. I have used it twice on Hannah and I love how it makes her coat look and smell. It is my new favorite. I also like Minksheen, Cranberry Fields and Pet Silk. I also just bought some John Paul puppy shampoo and it is really good on Gracie, smells clean and rinses away really fast. |
do you have a pet store close by? I also don't like using anything but pet shampoo on the dogs..of course, I haven't bathed mine myself in a long time |
I like baby shampoo for the head, but it is pretty drying. I use minksheen on the body, no tears baby on the head. |
Where can i get "Buddy Wash"? at a pet store? |

The shampoo I use is from Petsmart...it's called *efa HyLyt Shampoo...it's a soap free, hypoallergenic shampoo for the routine cleansing of normal, dry or sensitive skin. I use it on all 4 of mine and they all do well with it, even Jo who has sensitive skin due to allergies...it rinses out easy too so there's no residue left over. I don't use it around their face though, I use tearless baby shampoo for that. |
Thanks everyone for all of the help! |
