6 month olds activity level I brought Dixie home Friday night and she is almost 6 months old and she sleeps all the time. I had her at the vet yesterday and she lost 2 ounces and has a mild case of cocidia for which they prescribed Albon and she also got her Rabies shot yesterday. She is eating well and I have increased her food intake toget a little weight on her,But she just loves to sleep in her cuddlenest on my bed all the time. My others are so much more active than her. She has been use to being by herself at the breeders due to being so small so I am wondering if she just is so use to sleeping all the time? Opinions appreciated! |
I guess she might be trying to get used to the new house and all the new people. Or avoiding all too at some point. As long as she is comfortable and is eating/eliminating alright, just wait and see. My bichon is hyper and my yorkie is more subdued. Time will tell. This is all in getting to know each other better. :aimeeyork Good luck |
Yep, that would be a big switch for her. Plus with not feeling well, I'm sure the sleep is good for her. Moving to a new home - especially with new dogs - can be stressful for our little fur butts. If she is eating well, that is a good sign. I would just give her some more time to feel well and adjust.:) Hope things go well. |
It sounds like with her eating good, then you are on the right start. Once she gets use to everything, and everybody she will start playing more. Good luck, Keep us posted on how she is doing. Good luck |
I hear that when a dog is stressed they sleep! So it maybe the change in atmosphere has her stressed. |
Thanks, I think you guys are right she is probably so overwhelmed with the change in people around all the time and needs more time. I am justa worry wart with these little ones. She seems happy and seems to feel safe on my bed. |
Totally understandable Patti! |
