Picture of Sophie - Eyes reflect blue Does this mean anything? When I take pictures of Sophie her eyes are blue in the pictures. :eek: |
no its just the flash is she a young puppy cause ive noticed with my guys where babys there eyes where blue now that there older there green in pics its perfectly normal its like when our eyes turn red in pics :D |
Puppy Yes she is a puppy. I had been reading about what a yorkie looks like. Everything I had read is their eyes reflect green not blue. Now I know. Every picture was of an adult dog, not a puppy. Thank you so much for your help! I have papers on her but you just never know now adays. |

I have read before about eye color and thought it was a bunch of bull, but now I believe it. You can tell the type of hair type your yorkie has by the color of there eyes when you take a pic. Well it does with my two. When I take a pic's Maddie always had the green eyes and Rudy had the red, at first I thought it was were they were in the pic. My two have completely different type of hair. Maddie is a true silk and here eyes show green in pic's. Rudy had a prettier coat than Maddie but, he has a cotton coat that mats so easy. He has to be combed every day, where Maddie can go for ever and she never mats. Maybe a breeder on the sight could tell us more. You can see in my photo album the color of there eyes, it's strange...............Cindy |

I used to beleive the eye thing.But now I dont because my own yorkie has proved that rumor wrong..lol. I was always told that the green shine means a silky coat.Well my Jessica has deep green eyes in all of her pictures and at 8 months old she only has the silky hair on her head,the rest of her body is coarse and short although it never matts.Lady,my oldest yorkie has a yellow shine to her eyes and her coat is very silky,but also terribly thin..I can see her pink scalp through the silver hair on her head.I dont beleive that the shine has anything to do with the coat anymore..in my case its not working..lol. |
3 Attachment(s) This thread interested me enough to go and look at every picture I have of Lexi looking at the camera. Take a look at what I found! Keep in mind that these pictures were taken within a few weeks of each other. In one picture her eyes are (eerily) yellow, another they're green, and in yet another the left eye is green and the right eye is blue, lol. :eek: Does this mean she's going to keep her cyclone fur? lol. :p |
I think it just depends on where the light is coming from and where it hits their eyes. |
colors Gina...Lady is silk as we know..color shades range from a light yellowish green to very deep dark emerald..soft or cotton can be yellowish, but is is more a warm amber tint to pure red...Jesse is a mystery right now...I think in time her coat will grow. I have never seen a Yorkie with a silk head, that the body didn't follow,perhaps not the best silk, but not cotton. |
Pat, Rudy is a soft/cotton and he mats so easy any suggestion on shampoos that might help with it. I have tried Tropiclean, and now Chris Christensen and he still mats. I have always had my yorkies in full coat, but I hate to put Rudy through all that brushing. He has such a pretty coat but he is all boy and loves to be outside. How do you tell when you pick out a puppy what type of coat them will have?............Cindy |
coat When it comes to coat you have to trust the breeder. I cannot determine to the exact degree of texture, but anyone who is honest and knows what they are doing can tell basically what type of coat a pup will have...it is easy to tell a potentally soft from silk at 8 weeks...start by looking at the parents, that is your best help. The thick, fluffy teddy bear look on a puppy tends NOT to be silk. Silk is much cooler tot he touch, cotonis warm..that is why the eyes of an older pup start to reflect warm shades of ambers and reds. I would not hestiate to trim a soft coat into a comfortable style for your boy. It makes life so much more fun for them. You can use thinning shears yourself to reduce a difficult coat..lift up the first layer of hair and thin out the hair near the body.. As a former groomer, I have done this and taken half the coat off and the Yorkie still had a nice coat of hair that layed flat..I like Coat Handlers rinse..it is not an oil base and can be left in after a bath..and used inbetween for brushing. Thanks for the info Pat. The groomer I take them to, has thinned out Rudy's hair on his under side. When I got Rudy there was 3 little boys to pick from and she expained to me about the hair an you could see that one had a different coat than the others. Rudy had the best personality, but I guess not the best hair. lol He has been a challenge since I got him. He is so strong willed or should I say a brat. He keeps Maddie and Lucky on there toes. I will try coat handler and see if the groomer can thin him out a little more. I just love him with long hair, but I don't want to torture him just because I like it. Thanks again.........cindy |
I've seen blue and green myself on Yoda's pictures. It just depends on the lighting I think. I haven't noticed any reason why it's one particular color over another. |
I've checked all the pictures i have of toby and there are no reflections of anything :confused: his eyes are totally clear, no reflections of any kind...... does that mean im an awesom photographer??? :D lol..... probably means i have a self correcting camera :p |
