Hi! I'm new :D Hello! This is our 1st post, but we're yt.com fans :D We're Yvonne and Thalie, we're sisters and we'll be finally getting our baby girl next month cause she's born like 2 wks ago, so she's still with her mom but today we got the call from the breeder telling us that she's a healthy and stronger baby to come home to us soon :D We'll be getting pics of Barbie CoCo by tomorrow/thursday from the breeder so as soon as we get them I'll be posting them here. Do you have any advice for us? Any advice is welcome! We've had one rescue beagle and one maltese like 10 yrs ago, but we want to know if yorkies need some kind of special care that the other breeds dont maybe? Of course, since yorkies are super-extra special we think they do. How's your 1st day with your yorkie baby at home? Take Care, Have an awesome week! Yvonne & Thalie. PS: We're soo excited! We've loved yorkies forever! Days feel a bit longer than usual since we're "expecting" our baby :P:aimeeyork :D |
Welcome. You will find lots and lots of good advice here. I'm not very knowlegable but lots of people on here are. I'm on my first yorkie and all I can say it I am totally inlove with him. I know time will go slow for you for the next month. Good luck |
Welcome to YT :D You find a lot of info and many answers to all your questions here... Cant wait to see pics :) |
Welcome to YT!! Take a look around the site, you will learn plenty. Pay special attention to health care, shots required, food recommendations, etc. Since they are a very small breed, you have to be extra careful about them! |
Get plenty of rest LOL Cause it's like having a real baby and WELCOME |
Hello and welcome |
Hi and welcome to YT. My first thought would be for you both to buy a book on Yorkies. There is one that covers it all and it's called Yorkies Head to Tail. Second, I would NEVER get any small breed under three months old. They have a lot of learning to do from the mom and litter mates. |
welcome to YT!!! this place is a wealth of knowledge so anything you have questions on, just search around the different topics and post any questions you have :D i cannot wait to see pictures of your new baby! congrats! |
welcome Hello and welcome to yorkie talk. I've only been here a few months but i'm sure you'll love it here as much as I do.. Angelgyrl Mother to Ralph:aimeeyork :yorkietal |
Welcome to YT! Get a harness, leash, a premium quality food, a kennel if thats how you are going to potty train your baby. Where in Mexico are you? Can't wait to see pics of your baby! |
Welcome to YT! Lots of good advice has been given. Give them lots of love, never spank them and treat them like babies. |
Welcome! I'm excited to see pictures of her! Please don't bring such a tiny puppy home when she still needs her mother and siblings. A good breeder would not release a yorkie until at least 10, but preferably 12 weeks. The first day that Wobie was home was good, but scary because he wouldn't eat. I got him at almost 10 weeks, but I think it was still too early. So I advise to know all about hypoglycemia, and have nutrical on hand in case of emergencies. |
Hello and Welcome! I am also a new member and a first time Yorkie owner. We love our little Remi. He is 16 months old. We were nervous bringing him home but we followed the advice of the breeder and the vet. The advice I found most helpful that I will pass on to you is something we still do. We keep Remi in a crate next to the bed at night, covered with a towel. From the first day he was brought home he never cried. I think he feels safe in his little house with us nearby. He has "lights out" at around 9 or 10 pm and he wakes up at around 6 am - 6:30 am. He has kept this same schedule since he was brought home the first day. In addition, housebreaking takes a lot of patience and consistency. If you feed on a schedule and take your pup out very often, especially after eating, drinking, or play, he will eventually get the idea! Yorkies are unbelievable to live with! Your pup will give you lots of love and joy! Best of luck to you and your family! Merry Christmas |

Welcome to YT, these little guys are nothing but a bundle of love and joy to have around. The love you give will be returned 10 fold. Please have patience, training can be hard to handle, but do not hit a yorkie, they will never forget being hurt. These guys are very smart. All the best to you. Merry christmas. pooh's mum |
