A history lesson I majored in history in high school and college, so naturally I'm going digging on Yorkie history.....I always knew they were "mousers" put into the coal mines to run the rodents out so the miners could work....but here is what I learned new... In medieval times they were the dog "allowed" to the lower class people, the peasants so to speak. The landlords or upper class were distinguished by owning the big hunting dogs. Yorkies, while valuable work dogs, were not big enough to help in hunting the larger game, like deer, that the master would not want poached on his land. Their history said you could see the working class going to work in the mornings trailed by their little yorkies. What a picture...and I'd say now, with the prices they cost and their upkeep, quite the opposite is the picture LOL. Little Yorkie trivia for you this morning... By the way...have you noticedI HAVE AN AVATAR!!!!!!! |
wow Life has certainly changed for yorkies. Maybe they are being rewarded now for their hard work in past lives? :aimeeyork |
