AKC, UKC, ACA etc...
 
Okay this may be a dumb question...but with all the different dog clubs that yorkies can be part of...what is the "true" difference?...Are yorkies still able to show if they are UKC or ACA or do they have to be AKC? I was just wondering because there are so many different kinds and I just assumed AKC is the "one" to be in...but I noticed some yorkiesd are affiliated with other clubs? Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

IMO AKC is the registry that governs the shows we areaccustomed to seeing, such as Westminster...ACA is a registry that many of the puppies in pet shops are registered with. It has lost its focus, as I understand it, which was to insuce the health of puppies. Many millers use it as well as commercial breeders. You can do more research on the internet and get a really good understanding of each registry..APR is another that you will see on paperwork in pet shops and in multiple breed-breeders in ads.

Thank you...Maximus is AKC, but I never sent in the paperwork because I wasn't planning on showing him or breeding him...he is just my pet and I don't expect anything else....but I was wondering what the "big" deal was with all the registry's because there are so many....do you suggest registering just in case or is unneccessary if the pup is to be neutered?...I already have a copy of his pedigree...just he isn't included yet

Samantha, you will be surprised how pleasureable it is to see your baby's special name on the paperwork. And, you can get pedigrees and such. It is sorta like finding your own ancestors. The special name that you use..and it has to be unusual.. can warm your heart when you see it. "That's my very own baby" ie:Samantha's Maximus Great Heart..see how special that sounds?

LOL...you convinced me...I have been holding on to them debating every day..but you are right it would be nice to have in his scrapbook!!!
