Curly/wavy Okay I have a yorkie who - with the help of some of the members - I have determined has a cottony coat. I am in the process of growing her hair out and she doesn't tangle much but she is curly/wavy on her back near her tail, the rest of her hair is straight. Any advise on how to combat this. Also I have been growing her out for about 5 months, how much longer is she going to look so shaggy? I love her dearly and I of course think she is darling but she looks like a mess. Thanks for any advise. Also - the wavy part - will it straighten out any as it gets longer or will it look like I put the rollers in her hair starting from her tail and going about 2 inches up? |
I don't have any advice for you because I have the same problem. TJ is only 3 months old, but his hair is really wavy and short. When it starts to grow out, is it going to straighten out? He is really adorable, and I could care less either way, but I was just wondering about the waves in his hair. :D |
I believe there may be certain shampoos and conditioners that may be best suited to combat the curlyness. Here's a few threads I found searching for curly hair: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ght=curly+hair http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ght=curly+hair http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ght=curly+hair |
Spray on finishing spray may help too--like the Chrissy System Ice On Ice |
Interested in this answer My one yorkie has the long, silky straight hair. I had Gar cut in a puppy cut, cause he was so curly and wavy, and now I am letting it grow out. The front half of his body is getting like the others, long, silky, but it is like two halves of two different dogs, the back half is wavy, and curly. Help! |
That is the same as my, Macy. Just one little portion of her hair has this wave to it. From about 2" above her tail back. Another unusual thing is that the hair from her hips down is straight. So the fullness of this wavy/curly hair gives her the impression of having this really petite bone structure on the front part of her body with really big hips, like she need to lay off the Krispy Kremes! LOL. I will check out the links and advise posted above. If I come up with any great ideas will let you all know. Thanks for all your help. |
Just wondering what helped you to determine that she had a soft coat? The Petsilk Liquid silk is great for a soft coat too. I always use it on Rio after his bath. |
